The Opportunity 

As the Land Access & Engagement Lead, you will develop and execute land access and acquisition strategies that support project planning, construction, and long-term operational requirements.

You will lead negotiations, oversee compensation and easement processes, manage stakeholder relationships, and ensure access requirements are delivered in line with project schedules and regulatory obligations. 

Combining strategic leadership with hands-on stakeholder engagement, you will play a key role in maintaining community confidence, managing land access risks, and ensuring positive outcomes for both the project and affected landholders. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the development and delivery of land access, easement acquisition, compensation, and property rights strategies required to support project delivery. 

  • Build and manage strong relationships with landholders, occupiers, community stakeholders, Traditional Owners, government agencies, and regulatory authorities. 

  • Lead negotiations relating to easements, land access agreements, compensation arrangements, and other property-related matters while managing sensitive stakeholder issues and dispute resolution. 

  • Coordinate land access requirements for investigation, construction, and operational activities, ensuring alignment with project schedules and contractor requirements. 

  • Oversee land access governance, risk management, reporting, compliance, and record management to ensure adherence to legislative and project requirements. 

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Tertiary qualifications in Property, Law, Environmental Planning, Agriculture, Engineering, or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience in land access, easement acquisition, property negotiations, and stakeholder engagement within major infrastructure, utilities, energy, transport, or linear infrastructure projects.  

  • Strong understanding of landholder engagement, compensation frameworks, easement acquisition processes, and stakeholder management, with experience navigating complex relationships across regional and rural communities.  

  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, relationship-building, conflict resolution, and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, mitigate risks, and deliver outcomes in a complex project environment.  

  • Experience in electricity transmission, renewable energy, or major infrastructure projects will be highly regarded, along with knowledge of Victorian land access and planning frameworks, engagement with Traditional Owners and cultural heritage processes, and an understanding of agricultural operations, biosecurity, and regional land use consideration
