We have a current opening for a Junior Estimator in our Dallas, TX office.
The Junior Estimator will be an add to our Infrastructure Group, focusing on Airfield, Civil, Underground, etc. As an essential part of the bidding process; they assist with cost estimates and resource requirements for electrical construction projects.
Success in the position is achieved through the following duties & responsibilities:
- Assist with analyzing drawings, specifications, proposals, etc. to complete various checklist/spreadsheets related to a project.
- Focus on the takeoff process and utilize the checklist/spreadsheets created for the project.
- Compile counts/quantities to create bill of materials (BOMs) as part of the request for quote process (RFQ)
- Send RFQs out to material vendors and sub-contractors including all the necessary BOMS/documents related to the project.
- Assist in subcontractor outreach including good faith efforts.
- Create requests for information (RFIs) and submit to Estimator for review.
- Participate in preparing and organizing bid packages.
- File management throughout the entire duration of the estimates/bids
- Assist with final bid review.
- Assist with “hand-off” to project management team after project is awarded including attending project kick off meetings when needed.
- Complete misc. projects as assigned.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or field experience is a plus.
- Electrical estimating experience is a plus.
- Experience using Bluebeam and estimating software is a plus.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Ability to read and understand construction plans and specs.
- Willingness to learn and understand the industry.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow-up skills internally and externally.
- Must be detail-orientated and well organized.
- Ability to work with a team and independently.
Safety Physical Requirements
- Must wear proper PPE while on jobsites.
- Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
- Sit, stand, and walk during the duration of the workday.
- Will lift, carry, push, pull, kneel, crouch, and reach.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Salary Range:
$22.00/hour - $27.00/hour
- This is a non-exempt position
