Position Summary

The Inventory Analytics & Governance Manager is an individual contributor role responsible for supporting Inventory, Data Analytics, DC, and Merchandising partners through the full lifecycle of inventory initiatives, from concept and pilot through testing, implementation, and benefit realization. This role applies a structured decision-making framework to evaluate inventory changes, ensuring parameter updates, policy decisions, and system enhancements are evidence-based, financially sound, and fully traceable.

The role serves as a subject matter expert on inventory planning processes and technologies, bridging internally developed applications and enterprise planning platforms such as Blue Yonder to ensure alignment across tools, processes, and business objectives. This position also owns the development and maintenance of the team's SOP library, governance standards, and supporting documentation.

In addition, the Manager leads training and knowledge transfer efforts, establishing clear operating models, defining decision rights, and determining when partner teams can operate independently versus when F&R engagement is required.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Change Governance & Rubric

  • Own and maintain the rubric used to evaluate inventory changes — defining the evidence standards, financial thresholds, and approval criteria required before changes move to pilot or implementation.

  • Maintain an audit trail of inventory parameter changes, policy decisions, and test outcomes, ensuring traceability and accountability across the planning cycle.

  • Partner with inventory planners, DC, and Merchandising teams to ensure changes to planning parameters (e.g., Blue Yonder settings, WOS targets, safety stock) follow established governance protocols.

Analytics & Experimentation

  • Support inventory, DC, and Merchandising partners from concept through implementation: scope the problem, design the test or pilot, define measurement methodology, track results, and synthesize findings into a clear recommendation.

  • Evaluate the financial impact of inventory changes — working capital, inventory investment, write-off risk, and in-stock performance — and align stakeholders on outcomes vs. expectations.

  • Build and maintain analytical frameworks and models that support repeatable decision-making on inventory policies and system changes.

Financial Tracking & Alignment

  • Track inventory investment implications of active tests and implemented changes against expected outcomes.

  • Translate inventory decisions into financial language for leadership visibility — connecting parameter changes to working capital, margin, and service level impacts.

  • Partner with Finance, DC, Merchandising, and Inventory Planning teams to ensure inventory change decisions align with broader financial targets.

Tool Ecosystem Connectivity

  • Serve as a connector across the inventory tool landscape — developing a working understanding of how internally developed applications and enterprise planning platforms (including Blue Yonder) interact and complement each other.

  • Help partners understand which tool or workflow applies to their use case, and where data and decisions flow between systems.

  • Provide input into tool development and enhancement efforts, representing the governance and analytics perspective on how new capabilities should integrate with existing systems.

  • Identify gaps or friction points where tool connectivity is breaking down and surface recommendations to the F&R team and technology partners.

Documentation, SOPs & Enablement

  • Develop and maintain a library of SOPs, process documentation, and decision frameworks covering inventory governance, change management, and analytical methodologies.

  • Facilitate training on self-service tools and analytical resources available to inventory planning, DC, and Merchandising partners.

  • Define and communicate the engagement model: when partners can leverage self-service tools and documentation independently versus when F&R team involvement is required.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in supply chain, inventory management, inventory planning, or a related analytical field.

  • 2-3 years of experience of utilizing SQL, with experience using enterprise data platforms such as Snowflake or similar technologies to analyze large datasets, identify opportunities, and support inventory and supply chain decisions. Experience with Python, Databricks, or other advanced analytics tools is preferred.

  • 2-3 years of experience working with inventory planning systems (Blue Yonder, JDA, or similar).

  • Demonstrated ability to build or apply a structured decision framework or rubric in an operational context.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills; ability to design tests, interpret results, and present findings clearly.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills — able to translate analytical findings into business recommendations for inventory, DC, and Merchandising audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an S&OP, IBP, or inventory governance function.

  • Familiarity with working capital metrics and inventory investment tracking.

  • Experience developing SOPs or process documentation at an enterprise scale.

  • Exposure to next-generation planning platforms or system implementation projects.

  • Understanding of how enterprise planning tools integrate with internally developed analytics applications.

  • APICS, CSCMP, or equivalent supply chain certification.

Education

Bachelor’s degree required in Supply Chain, Business, Economics, Statistics, Operations Management, or a related field. Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
