The Inventory Analyst safeguards inventory accuracy and leads an efficient warehouse layout by combining inventory control, data analysis and operational improvement. The role sets priorities for cycle counting and discrepancy follow-up, ensures inventory adjustments are properly controlled, develops location and product-data improvements, and translates operational data into clear insights and recommendations for warehouse management.
Inventory Control & Accuracy
- Own the inventory-control cycle, including the risk-based cycle count plan, prioritisation of counting activities, review of variances and controlled approval of inventory adjustments in D365.
- Ensure short picks, inventory discrepancies and transaction issues are analysed and followed up effectively, with practical actions assigned to the Inventory Assistant or warehouse operation and monitored through to closure.
- Support physical inventories and maintain reliable alignment between system stock, physical stock and warehouse movements.
Warehouse Optimisation & Master Data
- Analyse product movement, dimensions, storage requirements and location utilisation to develop practical slotting, plotting and relocation recommendations that improve capacity, replenishment and picking efficiency.
- Safeguard the quality of warehouse location data and logistics-relevant product measurements in cooperation with MDM and other data owners, ensuring that physical warehouse conditions and system data remain aligned.
- Establish and maintain inventory control standards, KPI definitions and counting procedures to ensure consistent execution and control across warehouse operations.
- Use inventory and location insights to reduce short picks, unnecessary handling and recurring stock issues.
Data Analysis, Reporting & Improvement
- Develop and maintain clear analyses, dashboards and reports in Power BI, Excel or other relevant reporting tools, covering inventory accuracy, cycle count performance, short picks, adjustments, stock-location utilization and related KPIs.
- Translate data into actionable insights by identifying trends, exceptions, risks and root causes, and provide concise recommendations to the Operations Manager and relevant stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by establishing reliable KPI definitions, improving data quality and following agreed actions through to measurable results.
Collaboration & Operational Support
- Provide the Inventory Assistant and warehouse teams with clear priorities, analytical support and inventory-control guidance without assuming direct people-management responsibility.
- Work cross-functionally with Team Leaders, Operations, MDM, IT and Supply Chain to resolve issues and implement sustainable improvements.
- Operate in line with company policies, quality requirements and health, safety and environmental standards, ensuring that inventory and master-data changes are controlled and traceable.
