Intern, Engineering Operations
Duration: Initially 6 months, start date 1 November 2026
About the Role
Circles' Engineering Operations (EngOps) function is being rebuilt from the ground up, and this role sits right at the center of that effort.
We are looking for an intern to help us design and run processes to manage contractors, non-manpower spend and ticketing, working directly with the EngOps team and gaining hands-on exposure to People & Culture, Finance, Procurement, and Engineering leadership along the way.
It's a role suited to someone who enjoys bringing order to complexity: building trackers, running processes, and helping close the loop on requests that would otherwise fall through the cracks. Beyond the day-to-day, the intern will also get the chance to lead a small AI or reporting initiative of their own, and to see firsthand how a growing SaaS company manages cost and vendor relationships at scale.
Job Responsibilities
As an Engineering Operations Intern, your key objectives will be to:
- Partner with the EngOps Manager to stand up new contractor management and extension processes, giving EngOps a stronger, more structured role in how requests move through the organisation. This includes verifying submissions with P&C, Finance, and PMO, raising and tracking JIRA tickets, and following up with Engineering leaders and Procurement to keep requests moving without unnecessary delays.
- Design and maintain a clear, easy-to-use tracker for contractor extension requests and turnaround times, giving the team real visibility into how requests are performing against SLAs with P&C and Procurement, and helping spot bottlenecks before they become problems.
- Take ownership of a meaningful slice of the Non-Manpower COGS initiative: liaising directly with Procurement, digging into where savings opportunities exist, and helping build out a standing playbook of vendor options that the team can draw on for future negotiations.
- Identify and drive one AI or data analytics use case of your own, with the freedom to explore how automation or smarter reporting could make the contractor and procurement processes you're building even more effective.
Note: this role is best suited to someone who enjoys running processes end to end, is comfortable working across multiple stakeholders, and takes pride in keeping tickets, trackers, and submissions organised. A technical background isn't required, but a genuine interest in building and improving playbooks and processes is.
Job Requirements
We are looking for passionate individuals who are:
- Currently pursuing or have completed a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematic, Business or a closely related field.
- We welcome applications from university students or fresh graduates of all ages, with a preference for fresh graduates and final-year students. Not required to have a technical background, but genuinely interested in building and running processes and playbooks.
- Comfortable managing multiple stakeholders across departments such as Engineering, P&C, Finance, and Procurement.
- Organized and detail-oriented, with a strong ability to track tickets, requests, and submissions without letting things fall through the cracks.
- Familiar with, or willing to quickly learn, tools such as JIRA and spreadsheets to build and maintain trackers.
Circles is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. We are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, gender, disability or age.
