The Instructional Content Copy Editor is a member of the Learning Programs Department. This team creates and delivers high-quality, effective learning content and engaging training and education experiences for Toastmasters members and volunteer leaders around the globe. Reporting to the Learning Programs Development Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring all materials and communications produced by the team meet organizational brand and style guidelines, adhere to consistent formatting standards, and meet the needs of international audiences. Primary responsibilities include copyediting, proofreading, quality reviews, and finalizing production of a variety of materials for digital and in-person modules, sessions, and programs.

Responsibilities

• Proofread and copyedit a variety of elearning materials, other content for Toastmasters audiences
• Provide clear feedback and guidance on content edits at various stages of the development process, with the ability to rework or rewrite when needed
• Recommend edits to ensure adherence to organizational brand and style guidelines, as well as understanding by international audiences
• Perform quality reviews of final content in the Learning Management System to ensure layout is sound, system components are functioning as expected, and links go to the correct places
• Work collaboratively with Instructional Designers and Content Producers in support of content creation
• Assist other members of the team with communications, logistics, and general department administration
• Support general project timeline management
• Provide timely, professional responses to staff inquiries
• Support a collaborative team environment through open communication, cooperation, regular feedback, and trust
• Complete additional tasks as assigned

Requirements

• 3 or more years of relevant work experience, preferably in an editorial capacity
• Proven excellence in proofreading and copyediting skills, with Track Changes proficiency a must
• Proficiency with applying the principles Chicago Manual of Style, with the ability to adjust rules for purposes of enhancing learning or understanding
• Mastery of American English spelling, grammar, and punctuation, with the ability to make constructive suggestions for a variety of audiences
• Proficiency in Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, Planner, etc.) and related business and communication tools (Zoom)
• Proficiency in Adobe Acrobat Pro, including creating digital forms
• Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to plan and balance many projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining high standards of quality
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as in collaboration with others
• Ability to quickly learn and incorporate new skills, information, and processes into daily work
• High level of professionalism, respect, and customer service at all times
• Willingness to learn about and acclimate to Toastmasters International culture and policies
• Intercultural communication experience a plus
• Experience in corporate training or adult education
