Job Summary

Part of a larger team delivering high quality Computer, Network, Storage and End-User Infrastructure technology solutions, on-going support to the business.  Independently completes infrastructure project assignments.  Plan, research, evaluate, design, and engineer the enterprise's technology infrastructure.  Provide technical support and troubleshooting, cost estimates, justifications, and recommendations.  Produces technical documentation, support and configuration.  Manage, plan, and maintain technical platforms including upgrading systems.  Monitor system performance and installs and configures hardware.  Responsible for collaborating with other Job Families such as Project Managers, Architects, Solution Engineers, Technicians, Business Analysts  to deliver consistent, reliable technology solutions that leverage AEP's technology standards, architectures and best practices.

What You'll Do:

 

Essential Job Functions & Tasks:

Working independently, responsibilities include the following related to Computer, Network, Storage, Cloud and End-User infrastructure: 

·         Provide technical assistance across Windows Desktop, Servers and other M365 Products with basic understanding of Unix and SQL.

·         Strong experience and knowledge to rack mount servers including installation of OS images and server patching.

·         Travel to nearby sites within the region to support infrastructure issues including workstation and servers’ support.

·         Coordinate with several other IT teams (Infrastructure, application and workstation) and is responsible for the satisfactory.

·         Resolution of the issues including documentation of the cause.

·         Provide technical assistance to improve system performance, capacity, reliability and scalability

·         Perform infrastructure project assignments. Plan, research, evaluate and design infrastructure solutions.

·         Provide a high level of technical support and analysis, operation, administration, and troubleshooting activities. Adhere to AEP’s approval processes as part of change management, incident management and trouble response scenarios.

·         Prepare cost estimates, justifications, application requirements, alternative solutions, and technical recommendations.     

·         Prepare technical documentation including procedures, manuals, and reports.

·         Review and adhere to budgeting and approval processes while assisting with annual and project planning.   

·         May provide training and mentoring, as well as work direction, to others on the team.

 

Additional Requirements:

·         Adhere to policies, procedures, standards, codes and regulations relevant to assignments.

·         Demonstrate thorough knowledge of AEP infrastructure, environment, components, and facilities to enable more efficient and comprehensive responses to projects and problems.

·         Exhibit and apply proficiency in analysis, design, problem solving, troubleshooting, resolution, communication, and customer service skills.  

·         On call support will be required depending on need.

·         Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field is required. 

 

Work Experience Requirements are listed below:

·         5 years of relevant work experience is required.  An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Compensation Range:

$87,633.00 - $109,543.00
