The Industrial Engineer – Paint will support manufacturing operations with a primary focus on automated paint systems, process optimization, and paint quality. This role will serve as a technical resource for automated and robotic paint processes, helping quickly identify and resolve paint quality issues, improve line balance and throughput, reduce waste, and minimize equipment downtime. The Industrial Engineer will also support manufacturing documentation, layouts, labor requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.

YOUR IMPACT

• Serve as a technical resource for automated and robotic paint systems, providing support for paint quality, process, and production issues.
• Troubleshoot paint coating and finish quality issues and identify process adjustments needed to improve quality and reduce rework.
• Analyze and optimize automated paint processes, including line speeds, cycle times, and process parameters to improve efficiency and throughput.
• Perform line balancing of automated processes and establish manpower requirements and expected production performance.
• Monitor and adjust paint process and chemical parameters to maintain quality while reducing material usage and waste.
• Identify process improvements in the areas of safety, quality, cost, productivity, and equipment reliability.
• Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles and methodologies to reduce waste, improve process flow, and increase operational efficiency.
• Identify critical spare parts and process needs to help reduce equipment downtime and improve system reliability.
• Support the justification and implementation of capital projects related to automated paint systems and manufacturing process improvements.
• Review engineering Bill of Materials (BOM) and develop or maintain manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and process standards.
• Determine appropriate manufacturing fixtures, plant layouts, and workstations to maximize space, efficiency, and production flow.
• Provide hands on technical support to manufacturing teams and collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and external suppliers to resolve process issues.
• Support engineering calculations, investigations, projects, and reporting in accordance with JLG engineering standards and processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering or related field.
• One (1) – two (2) or more years of experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

• Background supporting automated or robotic industrial paint systems.
• Knowledge of paint coatings, finish quality, and automated paint process troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing line balancing, cycle time analysis, and throughput optimization.
• Familiarity with heavy equipment, automotive, or other high volume manufacturing environments.
• Working knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma principles and methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to identify process improvements that reduce scrap, rework, material waste, and equipment downtime.
• Ability to evaluate manufacturing processes and support justification for capital improvement projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel, data analysis, and charting.
• Strong analytical, problem solving, critical thinking, communication, and attention to detail skills.

• This role combines office-based administrative duties with physical activity in production environments.
• In the office setting, tasks may require extended computer use, sitting, and attending meetings.
• Field or floor work may involve walking across various terrains or shop floors, standing, moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds), climbing stairs, and exposure to varying temperatures or noise levels.
• Must be able to shift focus between detailed cognitive work and occasional physical tasks as needed.
