Position Overview
Heidelberg Materials is seeking a qualified HR Generalist for a 3-6 month Maternity Leave coverage role to assist in supporting our Picton Cement plant. Reporting to the Human Resources Director, you will contribute to the design, support, and delivery of our HR strategy, processes, and policies. This position will reside in our Picton, ON Cement Plant. This is not a remote position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in regional HR initiatives to achieve corporate strategic goal including ownership of designated special projects.
Execute full cycle HR Business Partner activities (i.e., recruiting, exit interviews, site function reviews, investigations, interviews, training compliance, onboarding, employee relations, unemployment claims) and other assigned tasks.
Partner with management in support of their HR needs.
Partner with Labour Relations on union contract and employee matters.
Advise and counsel management in area of Company policy, employment standards, local, state, and federal employment requirements, and related legislation.
Regularly provide on-site business support to management and employees.
Continuously improve employee engagement, experience, performance, and retention.
Work with managers and employees to address all types of employee relations issues, fairly representing all interests.
Support the Company’s leave and accommodation processes.
Who we are looking for:
Bachelor’s degree with a Human Resources focus or equivalent post-secondary degree in combination with HR work experience.
Prior experience in and HR role with Labour experience preferred.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence effectively within all organizational levels.
Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal labor and employment legislation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (immediate level of Excel).
Experience with Workday, SAP, JDE or other HRIS system a plus.

Competitive base salary ($88,700 - $118,267)
