Purpose  

Trusted support partner to managers & colleagues that provide Human Resources (HR) subject matter assistance, recommendations & / or guidance to collectively implement, manage & / or resolve policy, process & program matters.  

Note: “patients” refers to patients, clients, residents, participants, customers, members

Functional Role (not inclusive of titles or advancement career progression) 

The Sr. HR Partner Colleague & Labor Relations (CLR) 

Provides guidance & colleague & labor relations (CLR) subject matter expertise to Regional Health Ministry (RHM) leadership, managers & colleagues in promoting & fostering of a fair, positive & collaborative working environment. In collaboration with Regional Health Ministry (RHM) management, HR Business Partners (HRBPs) & Regional CLR leadership, contributes to the development, implementation & management of colleague & labor relations strategies, philosophies, processes & programs. Responsible for ensuring that organization's activities are in compliance with relevant regulations, laws & standards. Regularly interacts & consults with RHM management & regional colleague & labor relations leadership to collectively manage, resolve & trend colleague & labor relations matters, including planning & conducting high risk & complex investigations, responding to complex & sensitive internal & external party complaints & supporting collective bargaining processes. Counsels & coaches colleagues on performance and/or disciplinary issues, investigating & responding to formal internal and/or external sourced colleague complaints, handling & responding to colleague grievances for both union & non-union colleagues, & managing & resolving other fitness for duty, diversion and/or reasonable accommodation matters. Adds value to the organization by providing expert CLR guidance & solutions with a focus on enabling the achievement of Trinity Health's Strategic Priorities to realize a person-centered, mission-focused colleague culture in both union & non-union settings. 

Labor Functions: 

  • Administers Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) in alignment with business operations. 
  • Facilitates Effects Bargaining Meetings through negotiation between Trinity Health management & union leadership. 
  • Coordinate & participate in contract negotiations including Memorandum/Letters of Understanding (MOU/LOU). 
  • Manages union pay increases & wage scales in collaboration with Total Rewards Compensation. 
  • Respond to Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) & National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) charges in alignment with direction from Trinity Health Labor Strategy & outside counsel. 
  • Conduct manager education regarding contract terms to ensure consistent application of the CBA.  
  • Collaborate with Labor Strategy Team to coordinate & participate in local response strategies & education training of union impact for both leaders & colleagues. 
  • Management of the SharePoint site with CBA’s, LOU’s, etc. 
  • pay grade 15 range $100,205.0859-$150,307.6289  Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
     

Minimum Qualifications 

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Labor & Industrial Relations or a related field 

Minimum of five (5) years of related experience including colleague & labor relations, labor & employment laws, collective bargaining, colleague dispute resolution & fostering positive colleague & labor environment; or equivalent combination of education & experience.  

 

Additional Qualifications (nice to have) 

Master's degree
