Head of Multi-Asset & Adviser Solutions Technology

Role Purpose

The Head of Multi-Asset and Adviser Solutions (MAAS) Technology is a senior leadership role responsible for defining and delivering the technology, digital, data and analytics strategy that enables the growth and success of Vanguard's MAAS business.

This role sits at the intersection of business strategy and technology leadership & execution. It translates commercial, client and investment priorities into scalable technology capabilities, data-driven decision making and measurable business outcomes. The role is accountable for ensuring technology acts as a strategic enabler of growth, innovation and operational excellence across the MAAS business.

Key Responsibilities

Technology Strategy and Business Leadership

• Partner with the Head of Multi-Asset and Adviser Solutions (MAAS) and the wider leadership team to define and execute the technology vision supporting business, proposition and client objectives, and fulfilling all regulatory obligations.
• Shape the long-term technology, data, analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) strategy for MAAS.
• Deliver on all business needs, as well as identify opportunities where digital capabilities, analytics and AI can drive growth, improve client outcomes and increase scalability across:
  • Model Portfolio Services (MPS)
  • Portfolio Consulting and Analytics
  • Client and adviser insights
  • Business intelligence, flow monitoring and pipeline analytics, regulatory obligations
• Represent technology throughout strategic planning and business leadership activities.
• Bring structured client, adviser, product and market data-driven intelligence into strategic decision making.

Technology Portfolio Delivery

• Own the MAAS technology roadmap and ensure the successful delivery of strategic initiatives and technology investments.
• Lead the development and evolution of technology capabilities supporting investment solutions, portfolio analytics and client insight generation – as well as fulfilling all of MAAS business regulatory data needs.
• Work across Vanguard's technology organisation to ultimately own and ensure delivery against agreed priorities, timelines and quality standards.
• Maintain an integrated technology portfolio across Multi-Asset Solutions, Model Portfolio Services (MPS) and Portfolio Consulting and Analytics capabilities.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, insight generation, scalability and business effectiveness.
• Champion the adoption of AI-enabled tools, automation and advanced analytics across the organisation.

Digital Product and Platform Leadership

• Establish product management standards and operating frameworks across MAAS technology, digital and analytics teams.
• Oversee the MAAS digital product portfolio, ensuring teams remain focused on the highest-value business opportunities.
• Approve product strategies, roadmaps, business cases and success measures.
• Partner closely with Technology, Data, Risk and Compliance teams to ensure solutions are secure, well governed and scalable.
• Drive decisions relating to the investment, scaling, consolidation or retirement of technology capabilities and products.

Data, Analytics and Strategic Intelligence

• Define and execute MAAS's data and analytics strategy.
• Lead the development of management information, business intelligence and advanced analytics capabilities that support business growth and decision making.
• Deliver actionable insights across areas including:
  • Adviser and client intelligence
  • Peer analysis and benchmarking
  • Sales and asset flow analytics
  • Pipeline management and forecasting
  • Portfolio analytics and investment insights
  • Data-related regulatory obligations
• Ensure appropriate governance, quality standards and executive-level communication of analytical outputs.

People Leadership and Stakeholder Management

• Build, lead and develop a high-performing technology, digital and analytics organisation.
• Create a culture of innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Establish clear operating disciplines, objectives and performance standards.
• Partner with senior leaders across Investments, Technology, Data, Risk and Compliance to align priorities and successfully deliver strategic outcomes.
• Develop strong relationships across Vanguard to ensure technology capabilities support the firm's long-term objectives.

Experience

Required

• Significant senior technology leadership experience within asset management, wealth management or broader financial services.
• Experience leading software engineering, product management, data, analytics or technology delivery organisations.
• Proven track record of developing and executing technology strategies aligned to business objectives.
• Experience delivering complex digital, data, analytics or investment technology programmes.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to engage effectively at executive level.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, agile delivery methodologies and cloud-based technology platforms.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Preferred

• Experience supporting multi-asset investing, portfolio construction, adviser solutions, platform businesses or model portfolio services.
• Understanding of investment products, asset allocation and adviser servicing models.
• Experience delivering data, analytics, artificial intelligence and digital product capabilities.
• Graduate degree preferred.
