OPENING SUMMARY
This role owns the Investment Strategy Group's agentic AI platform end-to-end — from vendor selection, the build-vs-buy roadmap through to the orchestration layer that ties Choreo's investment agents together. Work will involve coordination with CIO/ ISG/ CTO and all Choreo platforms to design, build and coordinate Investment needs across Choreo and build an Agentic AI overlay to help scale the investment team. This role is accountable for agentic workflows (initially focusing on research summarization, meeting documentation, the shared research knowledge base, due diligence data-gathering, advisor content drafting, portfolio monitoring and more) both in terms of development and guardrails, and compound in value as the platform scales.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Own the build-vs-buy roadmap: license vendor AI tools where they meet the bar, and lead build decisions where Choreo's proprietary research and philosophy become a genuine competitive moat.
- Stand up and maintain the shared research knowledge base that every other agentic workflow queries against — the platform's foundational dependency.
- Manage the technical build and iteration of the Due Diligence Research Agent, Portfolio Monitoring Agent, and Advisor Content Agent, in close partnership with the Manager Research Leads, Portfolio Strategy Lead, and Advisor Enablement & Communications Lead who owns each agent's output quality.
- Design and enforce the human-review guardrails behind every agentic workflow: no client-facing, trade-impacting, or manager-selection output is released without a named human owner and a documented autonomy boundary.
- Partner closely with the core Technology organization on infrastructure, data pipelines, security review, and enterprise vendor contracting — this role builds the agentic layer on top of Technology's platform, not alongside it, and depends on a working partnership with that team.
- Partner with Choreo Compliance on the firm's AI usage and data-handling policy; ensure every new agentic workflow clears compliance review before it touches client or advisor data.
- Treat the Wealth organization as a primary internal client: work directly with advisors and Wealth leadership to understand how they work and build an advisor-centric solution set that measurably improves the advisor’s experience rather than one optimized for the investment team alone.
- Track and report agent performance — output quality, human-override rate, and time saved — as evidence base for expanding autonomy over time.
- Manage AI vendor and model risk (data privacy, hallucination exposure, single-vendor concentration) as a standing risk register item, not a one-time review.
- Advise the Investment Committee and Technology/AI Subcommittee on agentic AI capability, limitations, and roadmap sequencing.
Basic Qualifications:
- 5–8+ years in investment operations, data/technology, and/ or AI-adjacent roles within asset management, wealth management, or a registered investment advisor.
- Direct experience standing up or operating AI agents or LLM-based tools in a production, regulated environment — not just prototyping.
- Working knowledge of agent orchestration frameworks (e.g., Claude Agent SDK, MCP-based tool integration) and retrieval/knowledge-based architecture.
- Demonstrated experience building for or working alongside advisors, with a track record of solutions advisors adopt. Strong relationship skills are a must.
- Fluency translating between investment-team workflows (manager due diligence, portfolio construction, advisor communications) and what's technically buildable is both translator role and an engineering one.
- Experience operating within compliance-constrained environments; comfort designing guardrails and audit trails, not just capability.
- Investment background and experience are essential, and can include MBA, CFA, or equivalent investment credential; technical/data background weighted more heavily for this specific role.
Success Metrics
|
Metric |
What Success Looks Like |
|
Platform coverage |
3–6 mature agentic workflows live and stable within 3-6 months. |
|
Guardrail integrity |
Zero client-facing or trade-impacting releases without documented human review; clean compliance audit trail on every workflow. |
|
Adoption |
Rising human-acceptance rate on agent-drafted output over time (research summaries, DD first-pass memos, advisor content) as evidence autonomy can expand. |
|
Efficiency |
Measurable reduction in analyst/advisor hours spent on research summarization, meeting documentation, and DD data-gathering, freed up for judgment-level work. |
|
Cost discipline |
Technology and AI spend tracked against broader Choreo-wide infrastructure budget band; build investment reserved for workflows with clear differentiation case. |
A Note on Scope
- This role sits deliberately at the intersection of investment process and technology — it does not own enterprise IT, security, or firm-wide vendor contracts (those remain with Firm Operations and Technology), and it does not own investment judgment calls (those remain with the Manager Research Leads, Portfolio Strategy Lead, and CIO per a decision-rights matrix). Its mandate is the agentic layer itself: build it, govern it, and make sure it earns the trust to take on more.
