Sobre este puesto de Grants officer (F/M) en Médecins du Monde

Médecins du Monde · Presencial · Kabul, Kabul, Afghanistan

Do you want to join a committed, activist-driven organization and take meaningful action for social justice?

For over 40 years, Médecins du Monde has been delivering healthcare to the most vulnerable, challenging barriers to access, and driving long-term change in health policies.

In France and across nearly 30 countries, our work is built around six core missions:

  • Sexual and reproductive health and rights (including access to safe abortion)
  • Migration, exile, human rights and health
  • Harm reduction
  • Health and the environment
  • Healthcare systems
  • Humanitarian spaces

MdM in Afghanistan

Médecins du Monde re-opened its mission in Afghanistan in 2021 and currently implements programmes in primary healthcare, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), nutrition and harm reduction through a combination of direct implementation and partnerships with local organizations. The mission operates in a complex environment marked by restrictions imposed by de facto authorities, constraints affecting women’s participation and access to services, evolving humanitarian needs and significant challenges for the health system. Current programmes are implemented in Wardak, Farah and Nimroz provinces and place a strong emphasis on community engagement, quality of care and access to essential health services.

In 2025 and 2026, the mission significantly expanded its operations through new funding secured from ECHO, CDCS, and GFFO. The current funding strategy focuses on diversifying the donor portfolio and securing additional funding sources to further expand programmatic coverage. To support this objective, a donor mapping tool has been developed and is regularly updated by the grants officer, in coordination with the deputy general coordinator, to ensure systematic monitoring and follow-up of potential funding opportunities.

About the role

You will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing grants management, donor compliance, resource mobilization, and partnership and donor engagement for MdM in Afghanistan. In addition, you will be responsible for the mission's communication and will promote visibility on MdM works, particularly when it comes to ensuring implementation of donors’ communication requirements.

What you’ll do

Under the supervision of the deputy general coordinator, your main responsibilities are the following:

Proposal management:

  • Lead and coordinate concept notes and proposals
  • Write the non-technical sections (context, needs analysis, cross-cutting)
  • Ensure coherence between narrative, logframe and budget as well as alignment with MdM strategy and donor requirements

Reporting:

  • Track all active grants and deadlines
  • Coordinate donor and internal reports (including the monthly situation report)
  • Ensure quality and consistency between programmatic and financial information

Donor engagement:

  • Maintain donor mapping and a database of calls for proposals
  • Train teams on donor rules, prepare meetings and briefing materials for the general coordinator
  • Support audits and evaluations

Partnerships:

  • Support the development of MoUs and partnership agreements
  • Coordinate due diligence
  • Manage collaboration with partners, including in a consortium

Communication:

  • Develop communication products (factsheets, country profiles, success stories)
  • Contribute to the visibility strategy, train staff on guidelines
  • Collect field content, and manage social media in line with MdM and donor guidelines

Who you’ll work with

You will work closely with the program officer at HQ, the Institutional Funding Unit, the technical coordinators, the support coordinators, the MEAL team, and the communication teams at HQ and in the field, among others.

Requirements

You are the right match if you:

  • Hold a Master’s degree in the following or related field: Development, International Relations, Humanitarian Management
  • Have at least two years of experience in a similar role
  • Have demonstrated experience in coordinating and preparing strong narrative and financial reports for a variety of donors
  • Have a strong understanding of donor compliance, especially for ECHO/INTPA, FCDO, BHA, GFFO
  • Have a previous experience with Médecins du Monde (MdM) (strong asset)
  • Speak English fluently

This role may not suit you if you:

  • Don't have experience in multi-donors’ budgets
  • Don't have the ability to work under pressure, in insecure and fast-changing contexts, with sound judgment, diplomacy and adaptability
  • You are not aligned with MdM’s values and activist approach

Recruitment process

If shortlisted, you will first meet with our HR team. Technical and managerial interviews, which may include practical case studies, will follow during the month of November.
