The Position

In your role as Global Technical Transfer Leader, you will be accountable for scoping, planning and executing technical transfers of small and large molecules between clinical & commercial internal and external manufacturing sites. You will become a core member of the Technical Development Team (TDT) and the Product Technical Team (PTT) responsible for managing timelines, resources, risks, and escalation of issues. You will also be accountable for ensuring adherence to established standards and tools to ensure consistent  project planning and execution, informed prioritization across the portfolio, and knowledge sharing with peers and stakeholders.  Your role has a significant impact on the achievement of company goals and objectives and requires partnering with stakeholders from across the PT organization such as from Product Strategy Teams (PSTs), Technical Development Teams (TDTs), relevant site functions, etc.

  • Your key responsibilities will include:
    • Lead planning and/or execution as well as provide oversight of assigned transfer projects incl. product launches, line extensions, commercial tech transfers, multi-node transfers, and multi-product programs
    • Deliver E2E supply chain implementation by establishing new manufacturing nodes for Drug Substance, Drug Product, Combination Products, and Secondary Packaging
    • Implement and apply project management knowledge to the Product Technical Teams (PTTs) and Technical Development Teams (TDTs)
    • Escalate and drive resolution of complex risks and issues. Exercise judgment in selecting methods, approaches, and evaluation criteria to provide solutions to the organization
    • For external transfers, own the Joint project team (JPT) with team members from the CDMO
    • Lead cross functional teams with a Lean and continuous improvement mindset and with a strong focus on outcomes and impact for patients. Drive lessons learned to proactively identify and address network level issues.
    • Lead and/or participate in cross-site/product assessments
    • Identify all interdependencies to other products, projects to ensure transparency of project risks and alignment with the current network and product strategies
    • Support site selections triggering new technical transfers by appropriate project scoping and planning, evaluation of relevant project risks and mitigations, and securing the required project resources/budget with key stakeholders
    • Act as mentor for new hires to help onboard them to their new job successfully 
    • Provide transparency of the project status to key customers and stakeholders in a highly visible global setting

You will lead planning and/or execution as well as provide oversight of assigned projects of increasing complexity. You will develop detailed plans for successful project execution across multiple sites and functions, considering strategic and tactical inputs from key stakeholders related to project scope, dependencies, risks, and opportunities.  You will have the ultimate accountability to ensure adherence to the project milestones and the assigned project budget.  You will anticipate risks, dependencies, and strategic/tactical events that may negatively impact project success. You will develop and appropriately communicate the strategic context of the project and regularly interact with leaders and key stakeholders. You will drive resolution of any issues pertaining to your projects with the project team, project steering committee, and other governance bodies. You will onboard and coach site transfer leads and other members of the tech transfer team to ensure effective team collaboration and successful execution of your projects.

  • We are looking for the following skills and experience:
    • Bachelor's in science or engineering; strong knowledge of PM tools, a certified training in project management skills is not required, but a plus
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry,with experience in matrix leader roles with regular senior management interactions
    • Deep understanding of the Pharmaceutical Industry and its regulatory environment, DS and DP manufacturing processes, and supply chain aspects.
    • Sound knowledge of all relevant manufacturing processes and platforms, current GMPs, regulatory dependencies, supply chain, and process development
    • Strong execution focus to successfully set up and deploy technical transfers from the first idea until the realization of the new supply chain
    • Advanced knowledge of CMC processes as well as process and clinical development.
    • Accomplished matrix leadership skills
    • Excellent communicator able to manage stakeholders from all hierarchical levels
    • Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and assignments simultaneously
    • Ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity and to proven ability to lead matrixed teams in a global environment
    • Strong business acumen enabling an enterprise level perspective when solving complex problems

You have proven interpersonal skills to work effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners, and to lead cross-functional / -cultural project teams across multiple locations. You will serve as consultant to management and as internal/external spokesperson for the organization on matters pertaining to its policies, plans, objectives and business operations. You are fluent in oral and written English, other language skills are a plus. You are able to travel up to 10%.
