The Fund Treasury team
The Fund Treasury team is responsible for managing and overseeing the financing platform utilized by Wellington’s sponsored hedge funds as well as sub-advisory alternatives funds with similar financing needs. The team plays a key role in advising portfolio management on how to optimize their financing costs, working with counterparties to seek out portfolio efficiency opportunities, and customizing solutions designed to meet client objectives. Additionally, the team frequently interacts with prime brokers, derivative counterparties, custodians, clients, traders, and portfolio managers.
The Position
The Global Operations Co-op will be expected to perform daily financing optimization activities across a wide breadth of fund strategies and vehicles, learning the core concepts underpinning the day-to-day financing management of a hedge fund. The Co-op will engage with a variety of teams at Wellington, as well as external partners (i.e., prime brokers), to achieve desired efficiencies on behalf of our clients. The team operates in a fast-paced environment, with priorities evolving and shifting to meet the demands of our growing alternatives business; the Co-op will receive training over their tenure on core responsibilities and be expected to actively contribute to the team.
The Co-op will be exposed to the following activities:
Analyzing margin requirements and generating reporting to Portfolio Management, ensuring accurate collateral management, identification of exposure risks, and compliance within prime brokerage risk models
Optimizing cash by reallocating funds across prime brokerage accounts to minimize portfolio financing costs, reduce idle balances, and enhance liquidity management
Building relationships with teams throughout Wellington as well as external service providers including the prime broker risk/margin teams and securities lending desks
Conceptualizing, designing, and/or developing custom reporting and analyses using industry standard tools (e.g., Python, SQL, etc.)
Working closely with other Wellington teams including Product Management, Client Service, Trading, Portfolio Management, Portfolio Services, Legal & Compliance, and Tax to develop an understanding of the intricacies of running a fund servicing platform
Qualifications
Further, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
Progression towards a degree in Finance, Economics, and/or Mathematics with a current GPA of 3.5 or above
Desire and ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment, performing multiple tasks and balancing competing priorities
Beginner/intermediary technology skills in the context of analyzing/managing large amounts of data (SQL, Tableau, Access, Python, Advanced Excel, etc.)
A natural curiosity and desire to expand one’s knowledge and role
Very strong attention to detail and organizational skills
A client service mindset and strong communication skills
High degree of integrity

Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:
$19-$35 per hourThis range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.
Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
