MTM Transit is proactively building a pipeline of exceptional leaders for future General Manager opportunities across our growing portfolio of transit and paratransit operations. While contract awards have not yet been finalized, we are seeking experienced operations professionals who are interested in joining our talent community and being considered for upcoming opportunities nationwide.

This Evergreen Requisition is designed to identify and engage qualified leaders for future small, medium, and large transit operations as new business opportunities are awarded. Candidates who apply may be considered for current and future General Manager openings that align with their experience, location preferences, and career goals.

Position Summary

The General Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for transit and paratransit services, ensuring the safe, compliant, customer-focused, and cost-effective delivery of transportation operations. Working collaboratively with corporate support teams, clients, and transportation providers, the General Manager serves as the primary operational leader responsible for contract performance, employee engagement, financial management, safety, and client satisfaction.

• Lead day-to-day transit operations while ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and serve as the primary operational liaison.
• Identify operational risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
• Analyze service performance, productivity, staffing, and operational trends.
• Develop and execute operational plans to meet contract and business objectives.
• Lead employee development, coaching, succession planning, and performance management initiatives.
• Promote and maintain a strong safety-focused culture throughout the operation.
• Ensure compliance with ADA, DOT, FTA, and company policies and procedures.
• Oversee federally mandated Drug and Alcohol programs.
• Monitor budget performance and identify opportunities for operational efficiencies.
• Support implementation of new business start-ups, service expansions, and organizational growth initiatives.
• Maintain required operational, personnel, and vehicle documentation.
• Provide regular reporting and operational updates to internal leadership and clients.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or GED.
• Progressive leadership experience in transit, paratransit, transportation, logistics, fleet operations, public transportation, mobility services, or similar service-based operations.
• Experience leading teams, managing employee performance, and developing supervisors.
• Experience overseeing operational performance and service delivery.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Working knowledge of budgets, operational metrics, and reporting.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred

• Experience managing transit or paratransit operations.
• Experience working within a contract-driven or public sector environment.
• Knowledge of ADA, DOT, and FTA regulations.
• Experience with transit scheduling, routing, dispatching, or transportation technology platforms.
• Contract management and/or project management experience.

Leadership Experience Considered

Candidates may qualify based on experience managing operations of varying sizes:

• Small Operations: Leadership experience overseeing a transportation or service operation with direct responsibility for staff, performance, and service delivery.
• Medium Operations: 5+ years of leadership experience managing a multimillion-dollar operation and teams of approximately 50+ employees.
• Large Operations: 7+ years of leadership experience managing large-scale, multimillion-dollar operations with 100+ employees.

Travel

• Local and overnight travel may be required.
• Candidates may be required to operate a company or rental vehicle in accordance with company policy.

This information reflects the base salary pay range for this job based on current national market data. Ranges may vary based on the job's location & contract needs. We offer competitive pay that varies based on individual skills, experience, and other relevant factors. Small Division: $80,000 - $138,000

Medium Division: $90,000 - $165,000

Large Division: $107,000 - $192,000
