ING Hubs Romania offers 130 services in software development, data management, non-financial risk & compliance, audit, and retail operations to 24 ING units worldwide, with the help of over 2000 high-performing engineers, risk, and operations professionals.

We started out in 2015 as ING’s software development hub, then steadily expanded our range to include more services and competencies. Now we provide borderless services with bank-wide capabilities and operate from Bucharest.

The Mission

You are an energetic Dev Engineer with a passion for IT, linking with the business and a positive can-do mindset. You are a team player working as a core member of a multidisciplinary and cross-functional squad whose primary driver is the customer. Close collaboration within and across the squads and with the consumer is of utmost importance for you.

You will join the GDD IT Chapter, which is part of the IT PSS in Brussels. You are providing software engineering capabilities of bringing business requirements translated to the technological requirements for developing features on the Direct debit domain, more specific the clearing.

The team functions in a cross-border, Agile way of working and all staff join forces to deliver the priorities as efficiently as possible, making use of experience, knowledge, availability, motivation of everybody. As such, you will have the possibility to be active in other tasks of the team making the job varied and technically enriching.

Your day to day

Even if you’ll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:

• Create frond-end applications by working closely with the other team members using the newest web technologies. Embrace emerging standards while promoting best practices;
• Design the apps with a UX frame of mind, end-user experience in terms of ease of use, customization and speed of interaction are key;
• Take an active part in design and technical decisions on both new and existing components;
• Be able to mix “big picture” reasoning with component level delivery;
• Initiate, iterate and continuously improve on technology, developing the product as well as the way of working;
• Take ownership by coding components and applications, as well as unit and integration tests;
• Follow coding and security standards, builds appropriate deployment scripts;
• Stay on top of new trends in web development technologies, with a focus on the ing-web and lion components and the Touchpoint building blocks.

What you bring to the team:

• Proficiency in JavaScript (ECMAScript 2015+), HTML, CSS;
• Experience with TypeScript and familiarity with Object-Oriented and Functional Programming paradigms
• Unit and integration test automation mindset;
• High curiosity for the business domain and geek level front-end experience;
• Strong focus on UX with a pragmatic, user-centered approach to collaboration through wireframes, rapid prototypes, or Figma designs;
• Good understanding of Agile methodologies;
• Web Components, lightweight and high-performance native components;
• Functional programming appetite;
• Optimization techniques and strategies;
• Knowledge in CI/CD pipelines (nice to have but not mandatory) and JavaScript tooling.
• Foreign languages: English (advanced)
• Education: nice to have bachelor’s degree (or higher) in an IT related field
