The team
This role sits in Interpath's Transaction Services practice. You will work on financial due diligence for buy-side and sell-side transactions alongside Interpath Global deal teams, on engagements.
The role
You will run financial due diligence workstreams day to day, own the supporting analysis and the first draft of the report, hold the quality of everything produced below you, and develop the people producing it.
Requirements
What you will be doing
- Run financial due diligence workstreams on a day-to-day basis, from the initial information request through to drafted findings.
- Build and own the core analysis of the target's trading performance, earnings, working capital and net debt position.
- Take responsibility for the supporting analysis pack, ensuring that every figure can be traced back to source records.
- Prepare the first draft of the report sections covering your workstreams, to a standard that can be reviewed rather than rewritten.
- Manage the information request and question-and-answer process, following up on outstanding items and escalating where information is not forthcoming.
- Supervise and review the work of Assistant Managers and Senior Associates before it is submitted.
- Line manage a small group of colleagues, covering objectives, regular feedback, appraisals and development planning.
- Coach colleagues on live engagements and deliver technical training to the team in your areas of strength.
- Present findings to the wider deal team and take part in management meetings.
- Keep engagements to time and to budget, and flag any change in scope at the point at which it arises.
What we are looking for
- Qualified accountant — CA (ICAI), CA (SA), ACA, ACCA or equivalent OR MBA in Finance or equivalent
- Minimum 7 to 10 years post-qualification, of which at least 5 in transaction services or financial due diligence.
- Has run FDD workstreams independently and reviewed the work of others.
- Experience of supervising and developing junior colleagues, including delivering difficult feedback.
- Strong grasp of quality of earnings, net debt and working capital, and of why each matters to the buyer.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence in handling large and poorly structured datasets.
- Clear written English to report standard.
- Works effectively to transaction deadlines and is comfortable operating with incomplete information.
What would also help
- Experience running or contributing to a technical training programme.
- Sector depth in one or more of industrials, business services, consumer, healthcare or technology.
- Sell-side as well as buy-side experience.
- Alteryx, Power Query or Power BI.
- Exposure to UK or European deal processes.
How we will assess you
A screening call, a technical interview, a case study, and a conversation with the Transaction Services lead you will be working with. We will tell you where you stand after each stage.
Our Values:
Embrace different: - From cultures to mindsets, we welcome them all. Our global presence means we’re inclusive by nature and we believe that people are equal, but not the same.
Do the right thing: - Our comfort zone is uncomfortable; we always make the right decision not what is simply easy or popular. Always consider how to implement these decisions, people will always remember how you made them feel.
All hands on deck: - We stand shoulder to shoulder with colleagues and clients, be that physically or from afar. Our individual expertise may find them answers, but it is through teamwork that it is implemented.
Passion drives success: - The impossible is always possible, we push the boundaries of what is expected because we’re never satisfied with the status quo. Our clients expect a positive result when they engage with us, and it’s only by delivering this that we win.
