Sobre este puesto de Financial Crimes Analyst en Flex
About the role
Flex moves real money at a serious scale, and someone has to make sure it only moves for the right reasons. We're hiring our first Financial Crimes Analysts to be that someone, and to build the function around them.
This is a net-new role. You'll report directly to the Head of Financial Crimes and work side by side with the people who designed our financial crime program. Once a customer is through the door, you own what happens next: monitoring their activity, investigating what looks wrong, deciding what is suspicious, and writing the narrative that backs the decision.
Your first priority will be working through our alert and case backlog and keeping the queue moving, which means a lot of hands-on investigation from day one. Our processes are still being built, so you'll also notice what's clunky, document it, and help simplify it. As the backlog comes under control, you'll have more room for bigger improvements. The scope is broader than a typical analyst role because the function is still taking shape, and the people who join first will set its standards and its reputation with our partners.
This is a strong fit if you have a few years of hands-on financial crimes experience, enjoy digging into cases, and want to grow from running a process into helping design one, with a clear path into broader program responsibilities as the team grows.
What you'll own
You'll be a core part of financial crime detection and investigation at Flex.
-
Post-onboarding risk. Own the question "is this customer's activity legitimate?" from the moment an alert fires to the moment it is cleared, escalated, or filed.
-
The queue and the backlog. Your first priority is working through our alert backlog and keeping the queue current, with an eye on both quality and speed, so real risk gets the scrutiny it deserves and good customers aren't slowed down by noise.
-
The investigation standard. Help set the bar for what a strong case narrative looks like here: clear, well supported, and defensible to a regulator or bank partner without a follow-up call.
-
Detection coverage. Flag the typologies, patterns, and blind spots you see across cases and bring them to Risk, Operations, and Engineering, so they can become better rules and fewer false positives.
-
The process. Document what works and flag what's clunky as you go. As the backlog comes under control, you'll have room to take on bigger improvements.
-
Your voice. As one of the first official Financial Crimes Analysts at Flex, you'll see where the process works and where it doesn't, and you'll have a real voice in how the team grows.
What you'll do
Detect and decide
-
Review and disposition transaction monitoring alerts, applying BSA/AML typologies to separate genuinely suspicious activity from false positives
-
Investigate unusual activity across accounts, payments, and cards, including patterns that point to money laundering, fraud, account takeover, and other illicit behavior
-
Escalate higher-risk cases to supervisory review with a clear recommendation, not just a pile of facts
-
Support UAR and SAR filings, working alongside senior team members and building toward owning filings end to end
Investigate and document
-
Write case narratives so clear and well supported that a reviewer, examiner, or bank partner can follow your reasoning without a call
-
Conduct enhanced due diligence on existing customers whose activity raises concerns, and refresh customer risk profiles when behavior no longer matches what we were told at onboarding
-
Pick up cases handed over by our KYC team when a flagged account needs a deeper activity review, and hand back what you learn so onboarding decisions get sharper
-
Keep accurate, complete records in our case management system
Build the program
-
Help flag the patterns and process gaps behind noisy alerts or missed risk, and help turn them into better detection rules and simpler procedures
-
Partner with Risk, Operations, Support, and Engineering to close open requests and, over time, tune monitoring
-
Support quality assurance and file reviews, including for our bank partner program
-
Stay current on evolving AML typologies and regulatory guidance, and bring what you learn back to the team
What we're looking for
You're comfortable with ambiguity, you make sound calls with incomplete information, and you can work a high-volume queue without losing quality.
You have
-
1–3 years in BSA/AML compliance, transaction monitoring, fraud operations, or a related financial crimes role
-
Hands-on experience dispositioning transaction monitoring alerts in a platform such as Sardine, Unit21, Actimize, or similar, with a working knowledge of AML typologies
-
Exposure to fintech, payments, card programs, or BaaS program compliance
-
Experience tuning detection rules or working with data and SQL to investigate patterns
-
Working knowledge of KYC/CDD requirements and BSA obligations
-
Exposure to suspicious activity reporting, including drafting narratives or supporting UAR/SAR filings
-
Strong written communication: you can explain why something is or isn’t suspicious in plain language and summarize complex findings concisely
-
High attention to detail, plus the ability to manage a queue and prioritize well
-
A self-driven, growth mindset: you don’t wait to be handed the next problem, and when you see a clunky step or a noisy rule, you fix it and write down the better way
Bonus points
-
CAMS or another AML certification, completed or in progress
