We're a Series A climate tech company with mobile pyrolysis systems that convert agricultural and forestry waste into biochar for carbon sequestration. Our systems use high-temperature thermal processing to transform biomass into stable biochar. We're producing carbon credits for customers like Microsoft, certified by Puro.earth. In 2026 we're deploying our systems across partner sites in North America.

The Role

The Field Technician is the "eyes and the brain" of our pioneering mobile pyrolysis systems, which convert agricultural residue into biochar. Running our proprietary equipment requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, plus the ability to monitor and adjust process parameters in real-time. Our machinery runs 24/7 and techs are expected to rotate between day and night shifts. This role requires 50% travel, with off-site assignments typically lasting 1-2 months, and availability to work on public holidays and weekends. Please apply only if you can accommodate these requirements. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Continuously monitor critical parameters like temperature, pressure, motor speeds, and feed rates.
• Make real-time adjustments to feed rates and other inputs to maintain optimal operating conditions.
• Recognize process deviations and respond quickly to prevent equipment damage or quality issues.
• Understand the relationship between different process variables and how changes affect quality and yield.
• Analyze operational data to optimize system performance.
• Provide routine and escalated updates using our work management system.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on systems.
• Accurate and timely documentation of maintenance and repairs.
• Handle mechanical, electrical, and fluid power challenges.
• Collect soil, biomass, and biochar samples per protocols.
• Run internal lab tests and complete documentation for quality control.
• Maintain operational logs and incident reports.
• Operate various pieces of equipment. 
• Collaborate for continuous improvement and safety.
• Provide exceptional customer service.

Preferred qualifications

• Passion for agriculture, environmental sustainability, and innovative technologies.
• Experience operating, maintaining, and repairing heavy equipment (agricultural equipment preferred).
• Experience operating machinery via HMI/GUI.

Working Conditions

• This role regularly works outdoors and around heavy equipment, industrial machinery, agricultural-residue handling systems, and biomass-processing operations. The position involves routine exposure to heat, cold, sun, rain, dust, dirt, noise, vibration, equipment exhaust, moving machinery, vehicle traffic, uneven ground, and airborne particulates. Agricultural and biomass materials may produce dust, mold, allergens, or other naturally occurring biological contaminants.
• The employee must maintain situational awareness, follow all established safety procedures, and use PPE appropriate to the task and work area. PPE may include safety footwear, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves, high-visibility garments, hard hats, and respiratory protection when required. The employee must not operate equipment unless authorized and trained and must comply with all applicable lockout/tagout, machine-guarding, traffic-control, hazard-communication, and emergency-response procedures.

Requirements

• Must be available to work on-site at our Houston headquarters and be willing to travel up to 50% of your time. Off-site assignments typically last between 1-2 months.
• Flexibility to work holidays as needed.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required; technical or vocational training is advantageous.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals, schematics, and operational data.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new proprietary technology.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
• Outstanding communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
• Eager to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Physical ability to lift and transport heavy equipment (at least 50 lbs).
• Operating heavy machinery including but not limited to skid steer and other agricultural equipment. 
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
