Join Hitachi Energy as a Field Service Technician and become part of our fast-growing Service organization. From rapid response and performance improvement to operational efficiency and life-cycle support, our teams work directly with customers to help maintain the reliability and performance of critical transformer equipment.

Reporting to the Regional Field Operation Manager and supporting the US Services HUB, you’ll work alongside experienced field professionals at electrical substations and customer sites across the country. You’ll perform hands-on mechanical work, inspect and service equipment, support transformer testing, and gain experience with specialized oil-processing equipment.

With travel of up to 85%, no two days will look exactly the same. You’ll have the opportunity to experience different customer environments, solve real-world technical challenges, and continue building valuable transformer and field service expertise.

How you’ll make an impact

• Perform hands-on mechanical work in electrical substations and at customer sites.
• Inspect equipment, structures, and materials to identify potential problems, defects, or causes of equipment issues.
• Service, repair, and adjust equipment and components that operate primarily through mechanical principles.
• Analyze information and evaluate results to help determine effective solutions to customer issues.
• Perform physical activities requiring strong dexterity, agility, and attention to safety.
• Use computers and software to configure functions, enter data, and process information related to site activities.
• Operate and maintain Vacuum Oil Processors (VOPs) and oil-handling equipment under the direction of site leadership, including completing required processing logs.
• Support transformer testing activities and collaborate with field teams to successfully complete customer projects.

Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background

• High school diploma/GED and at least 2 years of professional work experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 85%.
• Class A CDL is a plus.
• Welding experience is a plus.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders and stand, stoop, bend, and walk for extended periods of up to 12 hours per day.
