Job Description

As a Field Service Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll contribute to delivering excellent service for sophisticated analytical and scientific instruments. Working with customers across research, industrial, and healthcare settings, you'll install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex equipment while providing exceptional customer service. This position offers opportunities to work with advanced technology while contributing to scientific advancement and innovation.

Summary:

• To install, calibrate, maintain and repair instruments in the Company’s product portfolio - Laboratory Equipment and Third-Party Products (including Environment monitoring and Gas detection equipment) in a professional and reliable manner.
• Perform to designated goals of turn-around-time, utilization, response time, repair rate and customer expectations.
• Undertake calibration activities in the Industrial Calibration Lab, under the direction of the Industrial Calibration Engineer and Technical Controller.
• To achieve service revenue budget by championing Company products, developing strong customer relationships and working closely with commercial and operations teams.
• Respond quickly and actively to customer needs. Maintain close relationships with Company Sales, Marketing, and Service teams to address service and product issues effectively.
• To be highly responsive and proactive in dealing with customer’s needs.
• To carry out your employment in an efficient and commercially appropriate manner.
• Help the business Group's customers gain the most from our products by offering advice and technical support, fostering a partnership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with Service Operations staff to effectively manage field service activities and complete administration requirements to support the business.
• Promote and develop the Technical Service capability.
• Take ownership for customer satisfaction for services performed.

• Up to 20% allocation to calibration tasks in the Industrial Calibration Laboratory

• Work in accordance to all relevant certification and regulatory requirements such as NATA, ISO, Electrical Safety Acts and OH&S.
• Maintain company property according to company policy, including but not limited to: GOA stock, Company vehicle, Telephones, Computer and other material deemed company property.
• Take reasonable care of your own health and safety, as well as the health and safety of others.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years of hands-on technical experience installing, troubleshooting and repairing complex analytical instruments
• Preferred Fields of Study: Electronics, Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or related technical field
• Additional relevant certifications are advantageous
• Strong electronics and mechanical troubleshooting skills with ability to diagnose issues down to component level
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 50-75% within assigned territory
• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to work independently
• Adherence to safety protocols and quality standards
• Ability to effectively train and support customers in equipment operation
• Experience documenting service activities and preparing detailed reports
• Demonstrated success in meeting customer satisfaction goals
• Proficiency in holding a restricted electrical license desired, or relevant skills and experience to obtain one.
