About Guidewheel

Guidewheel is the AI-Powered FactoryOps platform. We turn the signal from a plant's existing machines into live visibility, so operations teams can see what every machine is doing, find lost capacity, and run leaner plants. Think of it as a FitBit for factories.

There is no rip-and-replace and no lengthy integration project. A plant can be live in a day. Good for business, good for the planet.

The role

The Field Engineer is the primary point of contact for customer implementations. Once a customer signs, you are the person who gets them installed, connected, and generating value on the Guidewheel platform.

You lead implementations both on-site and remotely, working alongside a Technical Account Manager (TAM) who owns the customer relationship and defines the scope of each engagement. You own execution: safe, accurate, repeatable installations delivered on schedule.

This is hands-on technical work in live industrial environments, and it is where a customer's experience of Guidewheel begins. A well-run implementation is the difference between a platform a plant trusts and one it does not.

What you will do

Lead the implementation

  • Lead customer installations end to end, on-site and remotely, per the published implementation schedule.
  • Assess electrical panel safety on arrival and coordinate with the customer's electrician when the scope requires it.
  • Install, wire, and configure monitoring hardware to Guidewheel standards and to the agreed scope of work.
  • Establish and validate site connectivity, and confirm data is flowing to the platform before you close out.
  • Capture machine information: nameplate data, asset IDs, and photographs for every machine.
  • Guide customer teams through remote installations, giving clear direction and verifying quality at each step.

Document the work

Clean documentation is not optional. It is what allows your TAM to validate the installation, the customer to trust the data, and the platform to go live.

  • Photograph every sensor: panel view, sensor in place, and nameplate.
  • Submit your installation report within 24 hours of closing out a site, covering sensor count, anomalies, and any deviation from scope.
  • Hand a written punch list to your TAM before leaving the site.
  • Log time on site so we can plan future implementations accurately.

Prepare and follow through

  • Assemble and stage hardware kits: firmware updates, labeling, and quality checks.
  • Run inventory audits and reconcile physical counts against system records.
  • Troubleshoot hardware remotely with your TAM after the implementation.
  • Return to site for replacement hardware, multi-phase installations, and scope additions.
  • Improve the implementation playbook. Site-readiness checklists get better because Field Engineers write them.

What success looks like

First 30 days: certify and shadow

  • Complete electrical safety and lockout/tagout training.
  • Complete Guidewheel's hardware installation and configuration certification.
  • Shadow five or more implementations across different customer types and panel configurations.
  • Assemble and QA your field kit.

Days 31 to 60: lead your first implementations

  • Lead your first solo implementation end to end, with a TAM available for remote support.
  • Complete 10 or more sensor installations independently at 95% or better first-pass accuracy.
  • Contribute your first improvement to the implementation playbook, drawn from a real punch list.

Days 61 to 90: multi-site independence

  • Lead multi-site implementation trips independently.
  • Support onboarding and shadow days for the next Field Engineer.
  • Propose one measurable improvement to implementation cycle time.

How the role is measured

  • Installation quality: 97% or better sensor accuracy on the first validation pass.
  • Safety: zero recordable incidents.
  • Reporting: 100% of installation reports submitted within 24 hours of closing out a site.
  • Punch lists: fully documented and handed off before departure.
  • Throughput: implementations completed per week, set with your manager based on geography and complexity.

What you bring

Hands-on judgment in a live panel matters more to us than any single credential. If you have done this work in the field, we would like to hear from you.

  • Trades experience. Electrical, industrial installation, controls, or a related skilled trade, with comfort working in and around three-phase panels.
  • Electrical safety fundamentals. Working knowledge of safe practice, including lockout/tagout. Certification is a plus, and we will certify you if you do not hold one.
  • Tool fluency. Multimeter, clamp meter, drill, torque tools, and label printer.
  • Willingness to travel. Up to 75%
  • Documentation discipline. Clear photographs and accurate notes matter as much as clean wiring.
  • Comfort with software. You will create machines, map sensors, and update installation status from the plant floor, and coordinate with the team through standard collaboration tools.
  • Customer-facing communication. You are the technical face of Guidewheel on site and on remote calls, and your TAM receives a clear status update at the end of every day.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Nice to have

  • Power metering or submetering experience.
  • Industrial networking: cellular gateways, VLANs, and working alongside plant IT teams.
  • Time inside manufacturing plants, and familiarity with what a plant expects from a contractor in its space.
  • Experience training or mentoring technicians.
  • A second language, especially Spanish.
  • PLC knowledge and experience implementing/troubleshooting them.
