A Jr data engineer on the BW SOON Data Team supports the analysis of data from multiple source systems and assists in developing data marts based on business requirements, under the guidance of senior team members. Solid data analytics and technical fundamentals are required, along with the ability to assist in creating data models, STTMs, and other technical documentation. The Engineer should have good communication skills and the ability to understand design requirements and existing business processes to support the design, development, and implementation of data products — in partnership with business partners and senior engineers. In addition, the Engineer should have the following knowledge: 1) Develop, monitor, and support ETL/ELT pipelines processing enterprise data, with intermediate experience using Oracle Data Integrator (ODI). 2) Assist in developing data warehouse and data mart solutions, including data models, STTMs, technical design documents, and data lineage documentation, under senior guidance. 3) Analyze and profile data from source systems, including DB2, Oracle, and distributed data platforms. 4) Intermediate expertise in SQL and Oracle PL/SQL development, including query writing, troubleshooting, and basic performance tuning. 5) Working knowledge of data modeling concepts, including dimensional modeling using Kimball methodologies, Third Normal Form (TNF), Data Vault concepts, and Medallion Architecture. 6) Assist in investigating and resolving production issues, data quality concerns, and performance bottlenecks; basic experience with incident support and root cause analysis. 7) Collaborate with business partners and senior engineers to understand requirements and support the development of data solutions. 8) Basic experience supporting data quality controls, reconciliation processes, and metadata management, with awareness of data security, access controls, PII protection, and compliance requirements. 9) Support cloud modernization and data migration initiatives as assigned; exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is a plus. 10) Good communication, documentation, and collaboration skills, with a willingness to learn and grow technical and stakeholder-facing abilities. 11) Beginner to Intermediate — Python development skills for data integration and automation tasks. 12) Familiarity — Snowflake, DBT, and related orchestration/version-control tools (e.g., Fivetran, Airflow, GitHub) is a plus.
