Looking for Philippines-based candidates
Job Role: Estimator & Project Administrator
Compensation range: $1,500 AUD - $2,000 AUD / Monthly
Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement
Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.
Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.
Who The Client Is: Our client is a well-established Australian commercial painting company delivering painting services across commercial construction, multi-residential developments, high-end residential projects, and restoration. They specialise in painting projects and are known for their commitment to quality workmanship, continuous improvement, and long-term growth.
Role Overview: As the Estimator & Project Administrator, you'll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day operations of a growing construction business. This is more than an administration role—it's an opportunity to become a long-term member of the team, working closely with the business owner across estimating, project administration, systems development, and process improvement.
The estimating work will predominantly focus on painting projects. You'll receive training in the company's core platforms, Groundplan and PaintProjex, while also working within their existing project management systems as they continue transitioning from Trello to PaintProjex. As the business evolves, you'll gradually take ownership of estimating support, project coordination, and maintaining accurate project information. We're looking for someone who is proactive, organised, and eager to grow with the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn and become proficient in Groundplan to complete digital quantity take-offs and support estimating activities.
- Learn and use PaintProjex to manage project information, workflows, and project administration.
- Work within the company's project management and estimating systems, including Trello and PaintProjex, to support job tracking, project information, and team communication during the ongoing system transition.
- Complete accurate quantity take-offs from architectural and construction drawings.
- Assist with preparing quotations by maintaining accurate project and estimating data.
- Maintain project documentation and ensure information remains accurate and up to date.
- Support job scheduling, workflow coordination, and project tracking.
- Assist with task management and monitor project progress.
- Identify missing information in plans and documentation before it impacts project delivery.
- Work closely with the business owner to improve internal systems, workflows, and operational processes.
- Communicate effectively with internal team members and external stakeholders to keep projects moving efficiently.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in construction administration, estimating, project administration, or a similar role.
- Experience in the construction or similar industry.
- Ability to interpret construction or architectural drawings.
- Comfortable learning new software and technology, with a willingness to become proficient in Groundplan and PaintProjex. Previous experience with either platform and Trello is highly regarded.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify missing or inconsistent information.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Highly organised with strong time management and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proactive, solutions-focused, and interested in improving systems and processes.
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively with a remote team.
Work Arrangement & Expectations:
This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement.
To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to:
- Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work
- Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”)
Candidate Vetting and Assessment Process
As part of the recruitment process, shortlisted candidates will complete:
- Practical residential floor plan estimating exercise.
- Short video assessment to evaluate communication and problem-solving.
- Recruiter interview covering previous estimating experience, error discovery processes, and handling of difficult client situations.
- Direct interview with the client.
