We are currently seeking an Entry-Level Environmental Scientist, Geologist, or Environmental Engineer with 0-2 years of experience to support our growing Somerset, New Jersey office.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic environmental consulting team performing environmental investigation, due diligence, and remediation projects throughout New Jersey. This position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both field and office-based environmental consulting. Field assignments will vary based on project needs and may include environmental sampling, site inspections, environmental construction monitoring, and oversight of subcontractors.

Office responsibilities will include data management, technical report preparation, site research, preparation of tables and figures, and support of project managers with project execution and proposal preparation. The successful candidate will support Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Preliminary Assessments, Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, and Remedial Action activities at sites impacted by petroleum, solvents, metals, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and other regulated contaminants. Experience with or familiarity with NJDEP regulations and guidance is preferred, but not required.

The ideal candidate is motivated to develop their technical and field skills, is comfortable working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary consulting team, and has a strong interest in environmental investigation and remediation. The candidate will work under the direction of experienced environmental professionals and Licensed Site Remediation Professionals (LSRPs) while gaining exposure to a broad range of environmental consulting activities.

Duties

• Support and perform field investigation and sampling activities, including soil, groundwater, and vapor intrusion investigations, under the direction of senior staff and LSRPs.
• Assist with environmental site inspections, drilling activities, subcontractor oversight, and environmental construction monitoring.
• Collect, document, and organize field data and observations to support environmental investigations and preparation of technical reports.
• Assist project managers with the management, tabulation, and review of laboratory analytical data.
• Prepare tables, figures, data summaries, and other technical documentation to support environmental reports and NJDEP submissions.
• Conduct historical and regulatory site research, including review of available environmental databases, regulatory records, historical maps, aerial photographs, and other site information.
• Assist with preparation of Phase I and II ESAs, Preliminary Assessments, Site Investigation reports, Remedial Investigation reports, and other environmental documentation.
• Assist project managers with preparation of environmental consulting proposals, including development of scopes of work, project approaches, cost estimates, and supporting documentation.
• Support project managers with project execution, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and task management.
• Communicate with project managers, field staff, subcontractors, laboratories, clients, and regulatory personnel as directed.
• Maintain organized project files, field documentation, photographs, and other project records.
• Occasional travel, overtime, and weekend work may be required depending on project schedules.

Requirements

• 0-2 years of experience in environmental consulting, environmental construction, environmental science, geology, engineering, or a related field. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Familiarity with environmental investigation, sampling, or remediation concepts preferred.
• Familiarity with NJDEP environmental regulations and site remediation requirements is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary consulting team.
• Ability and willingness to perform field work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• 40-Hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification with up-to-date refresher preferred, but not required for candidates who have not yet obtained the certification.
