Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 Collaboration Engineer to join our Collaboration Engineering team. This role is responsible for engineering, administration, automation, governance, and operational support of the enterprise Microsoft 365 collaboration platform, including SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and related integrations.
The ideal candidate combines deep platform expertise with strong automation and troubleshooting skills. They are comfortable operating in both engineering and operational roles, driving platform enhancements, supporting critical incidents, developing automation solutions, implementing governance controls, and partnering with security, compliance, and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Microsoft 365 Platform Engineering
- Administer and engineer enterprise-scale Microsoft 365 services including SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online, Microsoft 365 Groups, and Microsoft 365 Copilot.
- Perform day-to-day platform administration, configuration, maintenance, and service health monitoring.
- Proactively identify platform risks, service issues, and improvement opportunities, and take ownership of follow-up through resolution.
- Troubleshoot escalated incidents and service issues, document findings, and support root-cause analysis.
- Open, manage, and drive Microsoft support cases, working directly with Microsoft engineers to troubleshoot complex platform issues and validate resolutions.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts, Azure Automation runbooks, reports, and repeatable operational tools.
- Support Microsoft Graph integrations and SharePoint application registrations, including permissions, authentication, certificates, and secrets.
- Implement established governance, security, lifecycle, retention, access, and compliance controls.
- Test platform changes and new Microsoft 365 capabilities, complete assigned implementation tasks, and follow change-management processes.
- Create and maintain operational documentation, knowledge articles, dashboards, and support procedures.
- Work with engineering, security, identity, support, and business teams to resolve issues and deliver assigned platform improvements.
- Participate in Agile planning, backlog refinement, incident response, and continuous improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years supporting enterprise Microsoft 365 environments.
- Deep expertise in:
- SharePoint Online
- Microsoft Teams
- OneDrive for Business
- Exchange Online
- Advanced PowerShell scripting experience.
- Experience building Azure Automation Runbooks.
- Experience working with Microsoft Graph APIs.
- Experience with SharePoint application registrations, including Microsoft Entra ID app registrations, API permissions, authentication models, certificate and secret management, and governance of application access to SharePoint Online.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting Microsoft 365 issues with Microsoft support, including case management, technical escalation, evidence collection, and resolution validation.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise environments.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 governance, compliance, and security capabilities.
- Experience with Agile delivery methodologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Purview.
- Experience with Copilot governance and enablement.
- Experience with Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps).
- Experience with application integrations and app governance.
- Experience with ShareGate or other migration tools.
- Experience supporting audit, risk, or compliance initiatives.
- Microsoft 365 certifications.
Nice to Have
- Splunk dashboard development and reporting.
- KQL and log analytics experience.
- Experience creating operational monitoring solutions.
- Experience with REST APIs and automation frameworks.
- Knowledge of xMatters, ServiceNow, and enterprise workflow integrations.
