GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Early Career Extern provides support as directed through assignments within a line of business or division while receiving exposure to the broader organization. Externs integrate into the organization through day-to-day activities and project work. Externs operate as team members on larger initiatives but also work independently on smaller projects and tasks.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Human Capital Extern will support the team by assisting with project-based initiatives. This role offers hands-on experience in compensation, data validation and total rewards programs while providing exposure to key Human Resources functions. The extern will work closely with Human Capital professionals to support projects, as needed. Responsibilities may include:

• Data validation and cleanup
• System and process integration activities
• Documentation and reporting support related to merger efforts
• Attention to detail and data accuracy
• Utilize project management skills to manage and report on assignment and project status.
• Build a network of contacts within assigned line of business or division as well as across the organization. Effectively communicate with others, demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Complete assigned coursework and participate in self-learning.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to provide day-to-day support on compensation-related activities and projects.
• Solve routine problems by following defined procedures.
• Manage own time to meet deadlines set by Manager and Assignment Leader.

Requirements:

• Must be a rising Sophomore or rising Junior currently enrolled in an accredited degree program (Grad date of 2029 or 2030)
• Candidates must have a strong academic record (minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA)
• Major in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Industrial Relations, Analytics, Finance or related degree
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment based immigration sponsorship now or in the future.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the capacity to learn additional software applications as required by the assignment.
• Possesses professional customer service skills. Able to respond to standard requests from internal and external customers.
• Solid candidates should have relevant internship and/or work experience, strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated proficiency in critical thinking, leadership, business acumen, relationship building and teamwork through extracurricular activities, work experience, or academic pursuits.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate initiative.
• Ability to multitask and be flexible.
• Capable of managing own time to meet established deadlines.
