Job Description Summary

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver and pick up equipment at customer sites.
• Load, unload, and secure equipment.
• Haul equipment and supplies on local or longer-distance routes, as assigned.
• Provide exceptional customer service through clear communication, professional presentation, quality equipment, and safe equipment demonstrations at point of delivery.
• Maintain compliant hours of service log daily.
• Perform daily commercial vehicle inspection ensuring the truck and/ or trailer is safe for operation.
• Comply with Sunbelt Rentals internal transportation safety & compliance policies and procedures.
• Operate commercial vehicles in compliance with local, State/Provincial and Federal regulations.
• Maintain working knowledge of the tools and equipment in the assigned location fleet.
• Demonstrate safe driving behavior, maintain an acceptable driving record under company standards, and use defensive driving techniques.
• Use mobile applications, electronic logs, inspection forms, GPS, and routing technology required to perform job duties.
• Perform other duties assigned by the manager or authorized personnel.

DEFINITION OF VEHICLES ALLOWED FOR OPERATION IN ROLE

This role requires the operation of commercial vehicles that do not require a commercial driver’s license. No commercial driver license required.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2 years’ experience preferred; with verifiable over-the-road experience operating a combination of commercial vehicles.
• Must have and maintain a valid driver license for the state or province of operation, an acceptable driving record, and authorized-driver status under Sunbelt Rentals Transportation Safety requirements.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous trailer or towing experience preferred.
• Must meet any medical, licensing, endorsement, and driver qualification requirements applicable to the assigned vehicle and jurisdiction.
• Working knowledge of applicable motor-carrier safety requirements and DOT/MOT, provincial, territorial, or other transportation guidelines relevant to the jurisdiction.
• Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in the language or languages required to perform the duties of the position and comply with applicable requirements.
• Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, employees, or members of the business community.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to define problems, collect relevant information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to safely secure and transport equipment and complete each essential duty satisfactorily.

RELATED EXPERIENCE

Roll-Back Driver, Flatbed Driver, Delivery Driver, Route Driver, Box Truck Driver, Stakebody Driver, or Appliance Delivery Driver.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & GENERAL DISCLAIMER

The physical demands of this role require bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 lbs/23 kgs or more, and working indoors or outdoors when required by the job.
