Location: This position can be based in any of the following BGE Texas locations: South Austin,  North Austin (Round Rock), San Antonio, Halletsville.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review drainage design plans, hydrologic and hydraulic calculations, drainage reports, and technical memoranda for public infrastructure projects, including roadway improvements, municipal street reconstruction, storm sewer systems, channel improvements, detention facilities, and flood mitigation projects.
• Develop stormwater management solutions in compliance with municipal, county, and regulatory agency requirements, ensuring designs are practical, cost-effective, and constructible.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, storm sewer sizing, inlet evaluations, culvert design, detention pond analysis, drainage modeling, quantity takeoffs, and construction cost estimates for public works projects.
• Utilize industry-standard drainage modeling and design software, including OpenRoads Designer Drainage Utility (ORD-DU), to analyze drainage systems, evaluate flood risk, and develop drainage infrastructure improvements.
• Coordinate with roadway, water, wastewater, structural, survey, environmental, and planning teams to integrate drainage solutions into overall project designs.
• Assist in preparing project deliverables for municipal clients, including drainage studies, engineering reports, permit applications, design plans, specifications, and agency submittals.
• Participate in client meetings, project coordination meetings, and agency reviews with municipalities, counties, drainage districts, and other stakeholders.
• Provide technical support during design development, quality assurance reviews, construction administration activities, and responses to contractor Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Mentor junior engineering staff and assist with technical development, project delivery, and quality control efforts.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required, or ability to obtain Texas PE reciprocity within six months of hire.
• Minimum of 5 years of drainage engineering experience supporting municipal, county, or public works infrastructure projects.
• Experience designing storm sewer systems, detention facilities, open channels, culverts, and roadway drainage improvements.
• Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer Drainage Utility (ORD-DU) preferred.
• Working knowledge of MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer (ORD), Civil 3D, and/or AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with municipal drainage criteria manuals, floodplain regulations, and stormwater management requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare technical reports and interact effectively with clients and project teams.
• Proposal preparation, business development, and client management experience is a plus.
