Job Summary:

The Director of Operations provides strategic, operational, financial, and administrative leadership for a division of ambulatory physician practices across Wellstar Medical Group. Serving as the administrative leader in a dyad leadership model, the Director partners with physician leadership to drive clinical, operational, and financial performance while advancing divisional and organizational goals.

The Director is accountable for the overall performance of assigned practices, including patient access, quality outcomes, patient and provider experience, employee engagement, operational excellence, and financial stewardship. This role provides leadership and development for Managers of Regional Operations, RN Managers, and other operational leaders across the division to ensure consistent execution of strategic priorities and operational standards.

Working collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, hospital leadership, service line leaders, nursing, and system stakeholders, the Director leads growth initiatives, operational improvement efforts, and care delivery strategies that optimize performance and support Wellstar's mission, vision, and values. The Director reports to the Vice President of Operations for the respective division.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Divisional Leadership and Strategic Operations
* Provides strategic, operational, and administrative leadership for a division of ambulatory physician practices across Wellstar Medical Group.
* Serves as the administrative leader in a dyad partnership with physician leadership, sharing accountability for clinical, operational, financial, quality, and growth outcomes.
* Establishes and executes divisional goals, operational strategies, and performance expectations aligned with Medical Group and Health System priorities.
* Leads Managers of Regional Operations, Regional RN Managers, and other operational leaders to ensure consistent execution of organizational initiatives and operational standards.
* Drives operational excellence through standardization, accountability, performance management, and continuous improvement across assigned practices.
* Acts as a liaison among physicians, providers, hospital leadership, service lines, and Medical Group administration to promote collaboration and achieve divisional objectives.

Operational Performance, Access, and Growth
* Leads initiatives that improve patient access, capacity management, provider productivity, scheduling effectiveness, and operational efficiency.
* Identifies and implements opportunities for practice growth, provider integration, service expansion, and market development.
* Partners with physician, service line, and hospital leadership to optimize care delivery across the continuum and support strategic growth initiatives.
* Oversees implementation of new providers, programs, locations, and operational workflows.
* Utilizes data and performance metrics to drive operational decision-making and achieve targeted outcomes.

Financial Stewardship and Resource Management
* Maintains accountability for divisional financial performance, including operating budgets, capital planning, productivity, and resource utilization.
* Monitors financial, operational, and workforce performance indicators and develops action plans to address opportunities and risks.
* Collaborates with Finance, Revenue Cycle, and Human Resources leaders to optimize operational and financial performance.
* Ensures effective deployment of resources to support growth, patient access, and organizational goals.
* Applies sound financial and business principles to support short- and long-term divisional planning.

Quality, Patient Experience, and Clinical Partnership
* Partners with physician leaders, RN Managers, and clinical teams to advance quality, safety, patient outcomes, and evidence-based care delivery.
* Monitors and improves patient experience, access, quality, and operational performance metrics.
* Leads performance improvement initiatives that enhance service excellence, efficiency, and patient-centered care.
* Promotes effective care coordination and collaboration across ambulatory, acute, and post-acute settings.
* Ensures operational support for initiatives that improve clinical quality and patient outcomes.

Leadership Development and Workforce Engagement
* Provides leadership, coaching, mentorship, and performance management for Managers of Regional Operations, Regional RN Managers, and other operational leaders.
* Builds a culture of accountability, engagement, trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
* Supports talent acquisition, succession planning, leadership development, and retention strategies across the division.
* Partners with physician leadership to foster provider engagement and a positive practice culture.
* Creates an environment that supports employee engagement, professional growth, and high-performing teams.

Compliance, Risk, and Regulatory Management
* Ensures compliance with organizational policies, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and reimbursement guidelines.
* Maintains accountability for operational integrity, risk mitigation, and adherence to quality and safety standards.
* Supports clinical and operational leaders in maintaining a compliant, safe, and high-performing practice environment.
* Oversees implementation of corrective actions related to compliance, audit findings, and operational risks.

Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

Required Minimum Education:

* Masters Business Administration/Management or other/related field Required.

* 8 years additional years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of minimum education requirement.

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

* CHE, FACHE - Cert Healthcare Exec preferred

Required Minimum Experience:

* Minimum 5 years healthcare management experience, preferably in a practice setting required.

* Will accept 8 years of progressive healthcare management experience in lieu of a masters degree.

Required Minimum Skills:

* Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
* Knowledge and command of the principles of financial analysis, strategic planning, operations, human resources and information systems.
* Ability to collect, analyze and apply data and other pertinent information to develop short and long term practice goals and budget needs.
* Ability to work independently and to motivate and develop staff.
* Work closely with physicians, other providers and Wellstar Administration to establish and meet short and long term strategic practice goals.
* Proactively searches for and recommends opportunities to enhance practice services and revenue.
* Consistently demonstrates excellent leadership and customer service skills.
