The Project Controls Director will be responsible for developing and overseeing the planning/scheduling and budget cost controls within the division.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee large-scale construction operations and establish policies for the division.
  • Oversee and manage nuclear construction and nuclear decommissioning projects, with full accountability for cost, schedule, scope, and overall project performance.
  • Allocate resources, establish and enforce project controls, governance frameworks, and reporting structures to ensure compliance with organizational requirements.
  • Approve and manage project budgets, expenditures, and financial forecasts, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Lead contract strategy, review and approve change orders, and negotiate with contractors to optimize project outcomes and control costs.
  • Provide executive-level reporting to senior leadership on project performance, risks, and strategic direction.
  • Oversee the development and execution of Project Execution Plans, ensuring alignment across engineering, construction, and operations teams.
  • Direct project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation activities to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, contractors, and consultants, to achieve project objectives.
  • Establish risk management frameworks, make final decisions on risk mitigation strategies, and ensure effective issue resolution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for project delivery systems, processes, and performance metrics.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners, including clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance oversight to project teams and project controls personnel.

What We Are Looking For

  • 10+ years of active, relevant, and applicable experience in project controls within the construction, nuclear, industrial, infrastructure, or energy sectors.
  • Extensive experience leading project controls functions, including planning, scheduling, cost management, estimating, forecasting, risk management, and performance reporting.
  • Experience managing project controls activities for large-scale projects or program portfolios valued in excess of $500 million.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams, including planners, schedulers, estimators, cost engineers, and project controls professionals.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and team development capabilities.
  • Experience developing and implementing project controls governance frameworks, reporting systems, and performance metrics.
  • Experience supporting nuclear construction and nuclear decommissioning projects within highly regulated environments.
  • Proficiency with: 
  • Cost Control Systems and Applications
  • Planning and Scheduling Tools
  • Risk Assessment and Reporting Tools
  • Document Control Systems
  • Joint venture project experience is considered an asset.

Required Education

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Administrative Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
