Job Description:

Brown University Athletics and Recreation is seeking candidates for the seasonal Director of Player Development, Baseball position. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, and a member of the Ivy League, our intercollegiate athletics program consists of 38 varsity teams with approximately 1,000 athletes who participate within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA-DI).

The Director of Player Development, Baseball is a part-time, 10-month seasonal/intermittent position assisting the Head Coach, Baseball in all phases of the Baseball program, specifically with player development. This includes recruiting, student-athlete development, video analysis, coaching, and administrative duties such as maintaining logs and other compliance information.

This position will be responsible for maintaining professional conduct, positive sportsmanship and acting as a role model for the student-athletes. The incumbent must demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills and must be able to work effectively with staff, faculty and other members of the University. The position supports all efforts to continue to attract the nation’s top baseball players to our Division I non-scholarship program.

Major Tasks

• Assist with recruiting.

• Assist with student-athlete development.

• Assist with video analysis.

• Assist with coaching.

• Perform administrative duties including maintaining logs and other compliance information.

Job Qualifications

• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and computer skills, necessary.

• Demonstrated ability to work with and relate well to students.

• Excellent sport-specific technical, tactical and strategic knowledge.

• Basic proficiency in Excel, Word, internet and email capabilities.

• Social media experience, helpful.

• Familiarity with ARMS and Teamworks, or similar, preferred.

• Prior experience with video editing software, helpful.

• Commitment to the student-athlete, passion for the game and ability to coach and motivate.

• Ability to recruit within NCAA and Ivy League Rules.

Employees in coaching positions must receive annual rules education on NCAA legislation related to recruiting by the compliance office and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification (certification is available at no cost through the Division).
