About the Role
The Director of Insurance Solutions drives the Investment Consulting Unit's strategic investment partnership with AIA Business Units, helping BU CIOs optimise their SAAs against their own business, balance-sheet, liability, risk and investment objectives by drawing effectively on the breadth of investment capabilities available across Group Investment. The role also supports the development and execution of the GCIO's strategic investment agenda, bringing together market intelligence, investment insight, analysis and constructive challenge, and working closely with Regional Asset Class Heads and other accountable investment owners to translate agreed strategic priorities into effective execution.Roles and Responsibilities:
- Drives and influences the Insurance Solutions team to act as a strategic investment partner to AIA Business Unit CIOs, helping them optimise their SAAs against their own business, balance-sheet, liability, risk and investment objectives while drawing effectively on the breadth of investment capabilities available across Group Investment.
- Develop deep, ongoing trusted advisor relationships with Business Unit CIOs to understand their evolving priorities and constraints, provide strategic investment advice and constructive challenge, and connect their needs with relevant expertise, strategies and solutions across Group Investment and Investment Management.
- Support the development and execution of the GCIO's strategic investment agenda, gathering market and stakeholder intelligence, applying critical thinking and sound judgement to provide high-quality analysis, investment insight and constructive challenge on emerging strategic priorities and opportunities.
- Work closely with Regional Asset Class Heads and other accountable investment owners to support the development and implementation of agreed investment strategies and solutions, bringing cross-asset, insurance and Business Unit perspectives and mobilising relevant expertise from across the Group.
- Act as a connector across Business Units, Group Investment and Investment Management, maintaining strong two-way information flow and translating investment capabilities and market developments into practical opportunities to improve business and investment outcomes.
- Produce high-quality, decision-relevant research and analysis to support the GCIO, Regional Asset Class Heads, Business Unit CIOs and other senior stakeholders in making informed investment decisions.
- Develop, communicate and monitor a comprehensive suite of Investment Performance KPIs across all asset classes and the Group Unit Linked and Pensions Business, working with relevant stakeholders and governance bodies to ensure appropriate alignment and oversight.
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across AIA, including Group ExCo, Group Finance, Group Risk, AIA Business Unit ExCos and AIA AMC ExCos, and maintain and use a network of senior contacts with external asset managers, consultants and investment banks to broaden insight and enhance the advice provided to Group and Business Unit stakeholders.
- Other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by the Head of Investment Consulting and Group CIO.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Around 15-20 years of investment analysis and advisory experience in financial institutions.
- Experience in investment consulting or a multi-asset investment research role.
- Degree in Finance, Economics or another business-related subject.
- Finance-related professional qualification (e.g. CFA, FIA or FRM).
- Strong critical-thinking skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgement, synthesise complex information and translate analysis into practical advice.
- Strong financial valuation and technical analysis skills.
- Knowledge of Asian economies and retail financial markets.
- Quantitative experience in statistics, stochastic modelling and quantitative analytics is beneficial.
- Strong communication, influencing and report-writing skills, with the ability to develop trusted advisor relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Good team player with strong coordination skills to work with colleagues from various cultural backgrounds.
