Director, Category Management & Growth Strategy

Shape Tomorrow Through Growth, Strategy, and Innovation

At Ingram Micro, we help businesses realize the promise of technology. We're seeking a strategic and entrepreneurial leader to drive growth across a portfolio of networking, cybersecurity, and modern infrastructure vendors.

This role will lead the strategy and performance of an underdeveloped portfolio with significant growth potential. The ideal candidate can identify where to invest limited resources, build strong vendor partnerships, leverage data to make decisions, and develop strategies that drive measurable business results.

We're looking for a leader who combines learning agility, business acumen, and an entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to launch growth initiatives, identify repeatable successes, and scale those outcomes across a broad vendor portfolio.

If you thrive in ambiguity, learn quickly, embrace AI and innovation, and enjoy building growth plans from the ground up, we'd like to meet you.

This is a hybrid role that can be based at any of the following Ingram Micro office locations (onsite 3 days/week; remote 2 days/week):

  • Buffalo, NY
  • Scottsdale, AZ
  • Greer, SC

What You'll Do

Portfolio Growth & Strategy

  • Develop, launch, and execute growth strategies across a portfolio of technology vendors.
  • Identify opportunities to accelerate revenue growth and improve portfolio performance.
  • Prioritize investments, programs, and resources based on business impact, growth potential, and strategic value.
  • Evaluate market trends, customer demand, and competitive activity to guide business strategy.
  • Launch new initiatives, measure results, and scale successful programs across multiple vendors and technology categories.
  • Balance long-term strategic planning with near-term execution.
  • Bring an entrepreneurial approach to identifying untapped opportunities and transforming them into meaningful business outcomes.

Vendor & Business Development

  • Build executive relationships with vendor leaders and strategic partners.
  • Develop joint business plans and growth initiatives that drive measurable results.
  • Influence vendor investments and engagement strategies.
  • Serve as a strategic partner across sales, marketing, and business leadership teams.
  • Leverage successful growth initiatives and best practices to expand impact across an extensive vendor portfolio.

Data, Analytics & Innovation

  • Use business insights, analytics, and performance metrics to drive decision-making.
  • Leverage AI and automation to improve efficiency, productivity, and business outcomes.
  • Identify scalable opportunities to improve portfolio performance and customer engagement.
  • Use data to determine which strategies should be expanded, optimized, or replicated across vendor categories.

Leadership

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, agility, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Influence cross-functional stakeholders to drive execution and business results.
  • Champion an entrepreneurial mindset that encourages experimentation, smart risk-taking, and growth-oriented thinking.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Technology, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in category management, vendor management, business development, channel strategy, portfolio management, technology distribution, or related commercial leadership roles.
  • Experience leading teams and delivering results through others.
  • Proven ability to develop, launch, and execute growth strategies that drive revenue, market share, and business performance.
  • Demonstrated success scaling high-impact initiatives, programs, or growth strategies across multiple vendors, categories, or business segments.
  • Strong strategic thinking and business planning skills.
  • Experience prioritizing opportunities and resources across multiple initiatives with competing demands.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to make business decisions.
  • Demonstrated learning agility and the ability to quickly understand new technologies, vendors, and markets.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action and comfort operating in ambiguous environments.
  • Excellent communication, influence, negotiation, and executive presentation skills.
  • Experience working effectively across matrixed organizations and with senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency using AI tools, analytics, and technology to improve business outcomes.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience managing technology vendor portfolios within networking, cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, or emerging technology categories.
  • Experience leading SMB-focused sales, category management, or business development teams.
  • Experience driving turnaround or growth initiatives within underperforming business segments.
  • Experience managing profitability, forecasting, business planning, or P&L responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of technology distribution, channel ecosystems, and partner-led growth models.
  • MBA or advanced business degree.
  • Experience leading digital transformation, automation, or AI-enabled business initiatives.
  • Experience identifying repeatable growth strategies and scaling successful outcomes across large vendor portfolios, multi-category businesses, or complex partner ecosystems.

Success will be measured by:

  • Revenue growth and portfolio performance.
  • Expansion of strategic vendor relationships and investments.
  • Effective prioritization of high-value growth opportunities.
  • Successful launch, execution, and scaling of growth initiatives across multiple vendors and categories.
