Position Overview

The Development Operations Associate is a development professional with knowledge and experience in fundraising systems and data analysis. As a member of the Development Strategy + Operations team, this role maintains and recommends improvements to Tipping Point’s donor database and development technology stack, as well as the broader systems and processes that support our fundraising. They translate complex donor data into actionable fundraising insight, build and maintain Salesforce reports and dashboards, and project manage workflows. With sound operational judgment and a commitment to scalable, accurate systems, the Development Operations Associate partners closely with the Development Strategy + Operations Director and giving officers, as well as colleagues in Communications + Events, Technology, and Finance, to drive cross-functional initiatives. 

This position reports directly to the Development Strategy + Operations Director.

Responsibilities

Data Management + Analysis

• Analyze donor data and fundraising trends, identifying patterns and connections that  inform the fundraising plan and strategic decisions to meet revenue goals.
• Monitor and report on the effectiveness of fundraising initiatives, recommending adjustments as needed.
• Analyze and prepare materials for Development staff to manage their portfolios and track progress against revenue and activity goals.
• Manage data on Salesforce related to Development, ensuring data integrity and accuracy; use established guidelines to resolve data issues, escalating complex or high-impact matters to the Director.
• Develop and maintain systems to monitor donor data, quickly identifying gaps or inconsistencies that could affect fundraising data accuracy.

Development Systems + Processes

• Develop, maintain, and recommend improvements to systems and processes for individual and corporate giving, strategic communications, and technology optimization (e.g., Classy, Windfall, Salesforce plug-ins), including direct partnership with back-end engineers to keep Salesforce aligned with evolving fundraising operations. 

Compliance + Financial Coordination

• Review monthly close and acknowledgments to ensure accuracy and alignment with gift processing protocol.
• Lead the annual audit project, coordinating closely with the Development Assistant on assigned tasks and communicating effectively with stakeholders throughout the process. 
• Manage the elevated pledge follow-up and gift processing workflow, partnering with the Development Assistant on assigned tasks.

• Demonstrated strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and build Salesforce reports, dashboards, and sophisticated spreadsheet models that help the team track progress against revenue goals.
• Demonstrated track record of being able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks while remaining focused on accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to self-direct, anticipate roadblocks, meet deadlines, prioritize among competing goals, and manage through others as appropriate to keep work moving. 
• The ability to build and manage relationships effectively among various stakeholders.
• Proven ability to handle sensitive information with precision and confidentiality.
• A genuine interest in philanthropy, with prior experience in development operations, management consulting, or a data/analytics-focused role. 

Salary + Classification

Tipping Point is committed to paying competitive wages. In an effort to increase equity, because we know that salary negotiations tend to have an unfair bias, we do not participate in a salary negotiation process for any candidate. We will make our best offer, and it will be the same regardless of the candidate. The annual starting salary for the Development Operations Associate role is $93,600. This is a non-exempt position as defined by state and federal law. Non-exempt employees paid on an hourly basis and are eligible for overtime pay.

Hybrid Work Environment
At Tipping Point, we believe that in-person connection is essential to fostering strong collaboration, creativity, and community. To support this, staff are expected to be in the office Tuesday through Thursday. Some roles may require community meetings, which can be scheduled during these in-person days. On Mondays and Fridays, staff may choose to work remotely or from the office, depending on their preference. Our office remains open five days a week to encourage face-to-face collaboration and to provide a welcoming space for those who thrive working onsite. We also extend the use of our office to our grantee partners as a shared space for meetings and connection. Tipping Point will periodically assess this hybrid work model and may adjust it as needed to best serve our mission and team.
