Purpose:
The Derivative Operations team leads the operational aspects of Athene's Derivative investment and hedging strategy!This role will have responsibility for derivative middle-office trade support, settlements and affirmations, data management, investment accounting oversight, and derivative legal compliance.
The analyst role demands the ability to balance production and project responsibilities – performing derivative trade lifecycle functions and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners while also supporting projects to drive the strategy of the department and the wider organization forward.
Accountabilities:
- Partner closely with Derivative Portfolio Management, Derivative Trading, Legal, Treasury, Investment Accounting, and external counterparties to support end-to-end processing across a variety of derivative products.
- Manage derivative trade events, settlements, margin and collateral requirements, cash activity, and related counterparty interactions with domestic and international investment banks.
- Ensure accurate trade and data flow across execution, booking, confirmation, accounting, and reporting platforms by reviewing trade bookings, reconciliations, and legal documentation.
- Manage relationships with third-party service providers and resolve complex operational issues, while applying knowledge of ISDAs, CSAs, MCAs, and other trading agreements across legal entities and counterparties.
- Drive risk management and continuous improvement across derivative operations; depending on experience, support FX/Swap pre- and post-trade activities, including affirmations and settlements through platforms such as CLS TradeMonitor and GTSS.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 1+ years of investment operations or relevant professional experience preferred.
- Knowledge of derivative post-trade workflows and/or experience with MarkitWire/MTM, triResolve, Acadia, PAM/PFI, GTSS, or similar systems preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; VBA and/or SQL experience a plus.
- Strong communication, attention to detail, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience, required.
