  • Partner with Department bureaus, offices, data owners, mission stakeholders, and technical teams to translate diplomatic, consular, security, and management needs into scalable data products and analytic capabilities.
  • Design, build, test, document, and maintain secure data pipelines, data models, curated datasets, dashboards, and analytic solutions using approved Department platforms and environments.
  • Integrate and transform structured and unstructured data from multiple systems while improving data quality, lineage, interoperability, metadata, and availability for authorized users.
  • Develop Power BI dashboards and decision-support products that communicate mission and operational performance clearly to working-level personnel, program managers, and senior leaders.
  • Support mission-driven data management and governance by applying appropriate access controls, records-management practices, privacy protections, information-quality standards, and security requirements.
  • Facilitate requirements sessions, demonstrations, user-acceptance testing, training, and briefings with diverse functional and technical stakeholders across domestic bureaus and overseas missions.
  • Contribute to client delivery, business development, internal firm initiatives, and continued professional development in data engineering, analytics, data science, and federal consulting.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant professional experience, or two (2) years of relevant professional experience with a master’s degree.
  • Minimum two (2) years of hands-on SQL experience, including complex queries, data transformation, validation, and performance optimization.
  • Demonstrated expertise developing Power BI semantic models, dashboards, reports, measures, and data visualizations for mission, program, or operational decision-making.
  • Ability to define technical and functional data requirements and ensure the availability, integrity, coherence, traceability, and appropriate protection of electronically stored information.
  • Experience analyzing large and complex datasets to identify trends, establish key performance or risk indicators, and produce actionable findings for strategic and operational decisions.
  • Experience applying data-quality controls, documentation, metadata, lineage, testing, and quality-assurance practices throughout the data lifecycle.
  • Ability to work with sensitive government information in accordance with need-to-know, role-based access, records-management, privacy, and information-security requirements.
  • Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to nontechnical stakeholders and collaborate with program, policy, operations, security, and technology personnel.
  • Ability to support on-site and hybrid work for U.S. Department of State stakeholders in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area.

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Prior experience supporting the U.S. Department of State, a foreign affairs agency, or another national security or civilian federal client.
  • Experience supporting enterprise data governance, data cataloging, metadata management, master or reference data, data stewardship, or data-sharing initiatives across multiple organizations.
  • Experience designing and maintaining data pipelines and data models that ingest, clean, aggregate, organize, and publish data from multiple sources to data warehouses, data lakes, or other analytic repositories.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure data services, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, or comparable approved federal cloud and analytics platforms.
  • Quality-control experience, including debugging, peer review, user-acceptance testing, and quality assurance for new features, data products, and enhancements.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and presenting technical topics to diverse groups of functional staff, technical teams, executives, and geographically dispersed stakeholders.
  • Experience redesigning business and data processes to meet evolving diplomatic, policy, program, compliance, or operational requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create concise technical documentation, executive-ready briefings, and user guidance.
