In the role of Custom Software Engineering Lead, a typical day involves overseeing the technical direction and architectural design of bespoke software solutions. This position requires guiding teams through the entire development lifecycle, from initial design concepts to final delivery. The role emphasizes establishing development standards and maintaining high levels of code quality, scalability, and performance to meet evolving business goals. Collaboration with various stakeholders and continuous evaluation of technical approaches are integral to ensuring that solutions align with organizational objectives and industry best practices.

Role title: Senior Sybase & Python Developer (with unix background)
Seniority: 8+ years of experience
Key requirements / skills:
- Strong knowledge of Sybase ASE (SQL, stored procedures), Shell scripting & Python
- Experience working on Unix platform
- clean coding and refactoring skills with excellent problem-solving ability
Expertise:
- Hands-on experience in writing complex queries and stored procedures on Sybase ASE (T-SQL)
- Experience working on Unix platform - file operation, permissions, environment, data analysis
- Hands-on experience in designing and developing ETL/data solutions using Python (data cleansing, ingestion, loading & reporting)
- Experience with Shell scripting & Autosys
- Experience of taking business requirements and turning them into implementable smaller steps.
- Good understanding of SDLC in an agile operating model

- Expected to be an SME, collaborate and manage the team to perform.
- Responsible for team decisions.
- Engage with multiple teams and contribute on key decisions.
- Provide solutions to problems for their immediate team and across multiple teams.

Professional & Technical Skills:
- Must To Have Skills: Proficiency in Sybase Database.
- Good To Have Skills: Experience with Python (Programming Language).
- Strong knowledge of database design, optimization, and performance tuning specific to Sybase environments.
- Experience in managing database security, backup, and recovery processes.
- Ability to analyze complex data structures and develop efficient queries and stored procedures.
- Familiarity with integration of Sybase databases within custom software architectures.

Additional Information:
- The candidate should have minimum 5 years of experience in Sybase Database.
- This position is based at our Pune office.
