Job Description

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Custodial Supervisor II [R0153784].

 


ROLE of the POSITION


To meet the custodial needs for the TMC/Pavilion and Mendelhall facilities, this position must perform at a professional level which includes staff oversight, personnel/payroll related functions and sub-department budget maintenance.  Position is responsible for the supervision of a custodial crew to clean, sterilize, and upkeep several event buildings. 


Position will supervise a daily crew of seven to eleven individuals comprised of both part-time and full-time classifed staff.  Position will be responsible for work schedule; prioritizing work duties; will respond to custodial emergencies, train staff on proper use of chemicals and assist with minor repairs; offices moves and furniture placement. 


Administrative duties include reviewing and approving timesheets; checking vendor invoices;  keeping inventory of supplies, materials and equipment; order of said supplies materials and equipment.  Finally, position must be effective within an established budget. 


Due to the nature of the event industry, this position works in the natural elements at times, with heavy lifting, pulling and pushing, and occassional ladder work. 


This position is scheduled a variable work week, to include weekends, evenings, and holidays.




BACKGROUND SCREENING


Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background and/or credit check.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible custodial and buildings maintenance experience at a multi-building facility. One year of the experience must have been in a supervisory capacity which involved training and providing work direction to custodial workers; assigning and evaluating work; and assisting in preparing bid specifications for the procurement of equipment, materials and chemicals; OR one year of experience as a Custodial Supervisor I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

SALARY


Grade 28, Step 1, salary $48,086.64.

 

In accordance with Nevada Administrative Code (NAC) 284.170, initial appointments to classified positions typically begin at Step 1 of the assigned grade. A "Step" refers to the specific rate of pay within a grade, as determined by the Division of Human Resources.
