Role overview

The Technology, Media & Consumer Markets (TMC) Tax team works with a diverse portfolio of clients ranging from fast-growing entrepreneurial businesses and private equity-backed companies to large international groups and listed businesses. We provide a combination of corporation tax compliance, tax reporting and advisory services that help our clients manage risk, meet their obligations and achieve their commercial objectives.

As a Tax Manager, you will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of clients across the TMC sector. You will work closely with Partners, Directors, Senior Managers and colleagues across the wider tax practice to deliver high-quality tax services and commercially focused advice. Alongside delivering compliance and advisory services, you will also have the opportunity to support clients on acquisitions, disposals, reorganisations and other strategic projects where required.

This role offers exposure to a variety of technical and commercial issues while providing opportunities to develop strong client relationships and grow your career.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients within the Technology, Media & Consumer Markets sector, ensuring the timely delivery of corporation tax compliance and reporting services
• Act as the primary day-to-day contact for a portfolio of clients, building trusted relationships with finance leaders and management teams
• Review UK corporation tax computations, tax returns and associated tax accounting disclosures, ensuring work is delivered to a high technical standard
• Provide practical and commercially focused tax advice across a wide range of corporate tax matters
• Support clients with areas including group reorganisations, international tax matters, capital allowances, loss utilisation, R&D-related considerations and other corporate tax issues
• Build strong relationships with clients and become a trusted adviser to key stakeholders
• Work closely with Partners, Directors and senior members of the team to identify opportunities to expand existing relationships and support business development initiatives, through networking, attending sector events, preparing proposals and contributing to thought leadership
• Manage projects effectively, ensuring work is delivered within budget and agreed timescales
• Collaborate with specialists across the wider tax practice including VAT, Employment Taxes, Transfer Pricing and Global Employer Services by identifying opportunities to broaden client relationships and introduce relevant specialist and advisory services where appropriate
• Support clients through business change, acquisitions, disposals and restructuring projects where required
• Take responsibility for client acceptance procedures, engagement compliance and risk management requirements
• Coach, mentor and develop junior team members, supporting both their technical and professional development
• Contribute to a positive team culture and support the continued growth of the TMC Tax team

Requirements

• Strong UK corporate tax technical knowledge with experience delivering both compliance and advisory services
• CTA and/or ACA qualified (or equivalent)
• Experience managing a client portfolio and leading the delivery of corporate tax engagements
• An interest in developing market relationships within the Technology, Media & Consumer Markets sector
• Experience reviewing UK corporation tax computations, tax returns and tax accounting work
• Strong project management and organisational skills
• Ability to build and maintain effective client relationships
• Commercial awareness and the ability to provide practical solutions to business challenges
• Experience managing and developing junior team members
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly to both tax and non-tax specialists
• Experience working directly with senior client stakeholders, including finance directors, tax managers and business owners
• A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively across service lines
