You’ll be someone who is both comfortable working pro-actively and managing your own tasks, as well as confident collaborating with others and communicating regularly with senior managers, directors, and BDO’s partners to help businesses effectively. You’ll be encouraged to identify and draw attention to opportunities for enhancing our delivery and providing additional services to organisations we work with.  

We are looking for a manager to join our growing Financial Services Controls Optimisation team in London. You’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of client engagements and workstreams. You’ll manage client relationships, coordinate multidisciplinary and extended delivery teams and ensure work is delivered to a consistently high standard.

Our work covers both advisory and testing engagements, including controls transformation, control design and implementation, remediation and optimisation and control effectiveness testing. Our Controls Optimisation proposition extends beyond traditional controls testing. We help clients strengthen core control frameworks, implement and optimise SOX and ICFR programmes, rationalise control environments, establish control effectiveness frameworks, strengthen first-line ownership and respond to regulatory findings and remediation requirements.

You’ll be someone with

• Strong experience of internal controls gained within professional services, financial services or another relevant environment

• Experience of delivering controls advisory, transformation, implementation, remediation or assurance work and a good understanding of risk and control principles

• Ideally experience in at least one of; controls transformation and optimisation, Internal control framework design and implementation, SOX and ICFR implementation, remediation or testing, risk and control assessments, control rationalisation and optimisation, financial, operational and compliance controls, Internal audit or controls assurance, regulatory remediation programmes or controls effectiveness assessments

• Experience of managing people/projects or substantial workstreams and coordinating delivery teams

• Good commercial judgement including an understanding of engagement economics and project management. Coupled with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver effectively in a fast-moving environment.

• A relevant professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, MIIA, CIMA or an equivalent qualification would be beneficial.
