At Hitachi Energy, we’re not just shaping the future of power—we’re engineering it. As a Control Systems Engineer in our Grid Integration team, you’ll be at the forefront of transforming how electricity flows across vast networks, ensuring stability, flexibility, and resilience in an increasingly complex energy landscape.

This is your chance to work with MACH™, our cutting-edge control, protection, and monitoring system that powers some of the most advanced Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) in the world. You’ll collaborate with global experts, dive deep into control theory, and help deliver high-performance solutions that make a real impact—from simulation and design to commissioning and optimization.

Whether you're a seasoned engineer in power electronics or a control systems specialist looking to expand your influence in the energy sector, this role offers a unique blend of technical challenge, innovation, and purpose. Join us and help build a smarter, more sustainable grid—one algorithm at a time.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Design and implement control systems for FACTS and grid integration projects

  • Develop and test control algorithms for power converters

  • Simulate system behavior using MATLAB and real-time tools

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals

  • Lead design reviews and ensure technical alignment

  • Support commissioning activities at customer sites

  • Analyze system performance and optimize control strategies

  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders throughout project lifecycle

  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (default if not specified)

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Power Systems, Power Electronics, or Control Theory

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in control systems engineering

  • Strong understanding of FACTS applications and control theory

  • Experience with MATLAB, PI/PID algorithms, and real-time simulation

  • Knowledge of DSP, VHDL, and signal processing is a plus

  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
