Role purpose
This role focuses on managing and developing compliance driven reviews, investigations and complex problem-solving engagements using forensic accounting, business intelligence and technology solutions across Asia.
Role tasks and responsibilities
Perform thorough investigations requiring data analysis, funds flow tracing, process walkthroughs, financial and non-financial document review, review of electronic data and loss quantification
Conduct effective confrontational and information gathering interviews in the course of factual investigations or compliance assessments
Conduct in-depth public domain research in Chinese and English in connection with engagements
Work collaboratively and efficiently with data analytics, business intelligence and technology teams
Write well-structured reports and proposals in professional English and Chinese
Conduct projects, ensuring rigorous quality control and high service delivery
Conduct projects effectively to deliver on budget
Manage client expectations proactively and provide period updates
Ensure successful completion of the project through to prompt invoicing
Mentor junior members of the team from a technical, professional or project management perspectives
Represent Control Risks at events and other business development functions to develop Control Risks' profile in the GCNA and North Asia region.
Assist with the development of strategies and business plans to expand Control Risks' standing with existing and potential clients in the GCNA and North Asia region.
Seek to identify opportunities to differentiate Control Risks' services by applying crisis management, business intelligence and political and country risk methodologies from other practice areas.
Requirements
Knowledge and experience
Essential
3 years relevant professional consulting experience and/or in-house compliance/investigations role.
Understanding of the complexities of carrying out compliance investigations in the Asia region
Demonstrable experience of operating within a commercial environment
Preferred
Successful project management and gaining repeat business from clients
Experience of successfully building effective and strong client relationships
Commercial experience across the Asia region, and understanding of that market and its specific characteristics in terms of corporate investigation services
Qualifications and specialist skills
Essential
Strong technical forensic accounting, compliance review, interview and investigative skills a must
Advanced skills in research, business intelligence, analysis and report writing
Extensive and demonstrable experience of operating within consulting or commercial environments
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Methodical approach and strong project management skills
Close attention to detail
Fluency in English (spoken, written, reading)
Willingness to travel to client locations
Preferred
Accounting designation (CPA or ACCA for instance)
China or overseas accountancy certifications (e.g., CICPA, CPA, ACCA, CA)
