This opportunity entails being responsible for providing engineering inspection and documentation of construction work performed by contractor, in order to monitor the project construction compliance with plans, specifications, and contract provisions, as well as state and local regulations in order to protect the client's interests. Responsible for assisting in the compliance and modification of design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, specifications, and other contract documents for assigned projects. Leverages technical knowledge to assist in the review and interpretation of construction drawings, specifications, and construction reports.

Responsible for reviewing RFIs, Change Orders, and Submittals.
This position is for an EIT in the San Antonio Area. This position may require you to perform inspection/engineering services in the following 12 counties: Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Frio, Guadalupe, Kendall, Kerr, McMullen, Medina, Uvalde, and Wilson. Work assignments may include work with TxDOT, VIA, City and County entities.

Work for this position does not include remote work. This position is in-person.

Construction inspection work will include night work and weekend work.

What You'll Do:

• Assists with and monitors construction field work tasks and activities on a project to ensure conformance to plans and specifications. Reads, comprehends, and checks for compliance with applicable contract documents.
• Performs or observes on-site material testing. Reviews plans and specifications to determine material requirements (quantities and qualities), pricing of materials, etc. and ensures that procedures and materials comply with plans and specifications.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
• Reviews contractor’s daily construction reports for accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency. Regularly reviews contractor's as-built mark-ups, documents project progress using video and photos.
• Consults with Resident Engineer on work progress and construction problems, proactively recommends solutions, assists in the resolution of issues, and acts as a liaison with the engineer of record.
• Remains current and knowledgeable of industry technology and tools used to perform inspection work through industry resources, training, and research. Gains exposure to new technology and utilizes it (GPS/Rovers) to increase efficiency and accuracy of inspection tasks.
• Performs office engineer work when needed including but not limited to; prepares meeting agendas and meeting minutes, assists in processing and maintains tracking logs for RFIs, submittals, pay estimates, and other deliverables.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 2 years relevant experience, or
• Master's degree in Engineering and 1 year relevant experience, or
• Doctorate degree in Engineering.

What You'll Bring:

• Identifies complex discrepancies or conflicts within documents and evaluating the quality of work performed by using inspection checklists.
• Performs increasingly complex calculations, develops plots and graphs using Excel, and drafts detailed reports for project reporting to the client with guidance from more experienced staff.
• Performs basic shop drawing and submittal review and evaluates the contractor's CPM schedule.
• Writes daily inspection report, tracks work performed, and computes pay item quantities at a basic level with direction from more experienced staff.
• Understands the shop drawing review and gains the ability to read and interpret the contractor's CPM schedule at a basic level.

What We Prefer:

• Engineer in Training (EIT), or American Concrete Institute (ACI).
• Trained in digital construction management  software such as Constructware, Asite or similar preferred.
• TxDOT or CEI experience.
• Site Manager experience.
• APCM experience.

•  AutoDesk Construction Cloud (ACC) experience.

• Procore experience.
• ACI and Level 1B certifications
• Experience addressing RFIs ,COs, and Submittals
