Sobre este puesto de Computational Fluid Dynamics / Aerodynamics Engineer en NASCAR

NASCAR · Presencial · Concord, NC

At NASCAR, you will work alongside passionate people creating experiences fans feel and helping shape the future of sports and entertainment.

NASCAR is seeking an experienced Computational Fluid Dynamics and Aerodynamics Engineer to:

  • Oversee NASCAR’s computational fluid dynamics (CFD) initiatives, running simulations from CAD model creation through post-processing.

  • Produce detailed analytical reports and supporting wind tunnel testing for research and development efforts and new vehicle submissions

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) program in collaboration with TotalSim USA, managing aero team concepts and requests from CAD through post-processing.

  • Maintain CFD models for all three NASCAR national series, supporting performance evaluation, liftoff analysis, and thermal studies.

  • Assist with R&D wind tunnel testing, including vehicle preparation, prototype part fabrication, and data analysis.

  • Support the new vehicle submission process.

  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners.

  • Travel approximately 10%, including some weekends.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience with CATIA, Beta CAE ANSA, OpenFoam, Siemens STAR-CCM+, ParaView, or similar tools is highly desirable.

  • Background in automotive aerodynamics—especially high-performance or racing vehicles—is preferred.

  • Strong interest in race car aerodynamics, CFD, and the role aerodynamics plays from single-vehicle performance to full-field behavior.

  • Solid fundamentals in aerodynamics and CFD, including lift and drag, ground effects, and numerical simulation methods.

  • Strong ability to interpret wind tunnel and on-car data.

Why This Role?

  • Work on real, high-performance race cars. You’re not just studying fluid dynamics theoretically—you’re using aerodynamics to influence how a NASCAR vehicle actually performs on track.

  • See your work translate into results. The connection between engineering decisions and racing performance can be very rewarding.

  • Use cutting-edge simulation and analysis. The role can involve CFD modeling, data analysis, wind-tunnel correlation, optimization, and high-performance computing—excellent experience for an engineer interested in advanced simulation.

  • Work in a highly collaborative environment. It’s an opportunity to see how multiple engineering disciplines come together

  • Be part of a unique engineering culture. NASCAR sits at an interesting intersection of professional motorsport, automotive engineering, entertainment, and technology. You get to apply serious engineering to a highly competitive environment.

Behind every race weekend are talented people helping shape the future of sports and entertainment. If you are ready to make an impact alongside passionate teammates, we encourage you to apply.
