JOB SUMMARY
The Graduate Student Assistant for Program Development and Support Communications will assist with the development and execution of communications and creative content for LU ONE and its supporting offices. This position will create, edit, and publish digital and social media content; contribute to video and graphic projects; and support the day-to-day communications needs of the department. The Graduate Student Assistant will also provide leadership and direction to a team of CSER student workers, helping coordinate daily responsibilities and ensuring projects are completed effectively and on schedule.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Social media and digital content
· Create, edit, and publish social media content for LU ONE and its three supporting offices
· Develop and maintain a consistent schedule of posts, stories, and reels for multiple social media platforms
· Lead all approval processes with the university, department, and offices
· Attend department events and programs to capture photos, videos, student experiences, and the overall atmosphere for use in social media content
· Interview students, faculty, staff, and other members of the Liberty community to develop engaging content
· Monitor social media content and engagement and provide regular updates and reporting to the Communications Director
· Collaborate with department staff to identify stories, programs, events, and initiatives that can be highlighted through social media
2. CSER Student Team Leadership
· Lead and oversee a team of 4–5 CSER student workers who assist with communications and creative projects
· Coordinate student worker schedules, assignments, and daily responsibilities
· Train and provide ongoing guidance to CSER workers on communications, content creation, and department expectations
· Assign, track, and manage projects to ensure work is completed accurately and within established deadlines
· Review student work and provide feedback and direction as needed
· Communicate project status, progress, challenges, and accomplishments to the Communications Director
3. Creative and Promotional Projects
· Assist with the development of creative projects that support LU ONE and its three offices
· Develop creative concepts that effectively communicate department programs, services, and initiatives to students and the university community
· Collaborate with the Communications Director and department staff to complete special projects and promotional campaigns
· Perform other communications, creative, and project-related duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Position supervises 1-5 volunteers
QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALS
Minimum Qualifications
- LU Graduate student
- Eligible for work-study
- Ability to work 18-20 hours per week
- Flexible schedule; some weekends and evenings required
- The ideal applicant will give a minimum 1-year commitment to the position
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing a social media page
- Experience using Capcut
- Experience using Canva

- Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel, or stoop to conduct business.
- May be required to lift 30 or fewer pounds.

Work Environment
The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a climate-controlled office setting. It is well-lit, and the noise level is moderate.
Driving Requirements
If the employee is required to travel in performing the duties and responsibilities of the position, the use of one’s personal vehicle (or LU vehicles) may be required for travel. Proof of a valid driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, LU Driving Approval, and liability insurance is required when driving in the performance of the employee’s position.

Student employees are paid at least the current Virginia minimum wage per hour. Pay may vary by position and department based on job responsibilities, required skills, available funding, and market conditions.
