Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:
This is a dual-function technical position. The "Hybrid" nature of this role refers specifically to the integration of Product Development and Pattern Making & Fit Engineering.
 
As a Hybrid Commercialization Specialist, you are responsible for managing products from design approval through to production readiness, supporting our ability to deliver on time and providing an exceptional consumer experience.  Your innovative and solutions-focused approach to development and commercialization ensures that each product you work on meets Arc'teryx design intent, supply chain requirements and contributes to our ability to scale in a skilled capable manufacturing base.

The Commercialization Specialists (Hybrid) are passionate about transitioning product from creation to a scalable buy ready state.  We partner closely with our vendors to ensure products meet product development, cost and quality expectations while supporting our sourcing strategies.  We achieve this by building strong cross functional relationships within Product Creation Development and additional functional Supply Chain partners, as well as the Design and Merchandising teams.

If you were the Commercialization Specialist (Hybrid) now, you manage the product development, while expanding your ownership to include fit review and approval for modest amount of dual source development. 

If you were the Commercialization Specialist now, here are some of the core Product Development activities you would be doing:

  • Owning the development and commercialization of products as we transition to manufacturing from product creation development approval through to bulk readiness, ensuring product is delivered on time in full
  • Consistently achieving product design intent through collaboration with Product Creation Development, Design, and Supply Chain (Sourcing, Costing, Compliance and Quality) departments
  • Working directly with global vendors, , to accurately communicate model requirements, buy ready and production ready specifications, approved reference samples and patterns to meet established fit, quality and construction standards
  • Collaborating with global vendors to provide manufacturing input to our Product teams that will improve scalability, efficiency and enable quality in our manufacturing base
  • Transforming the Product Creation Development tech pack information, give attention to details, with accurate database of Bill of Materials (BOM) information that will result in efficient raw material sourcing and purchasing which then enables the vendors to accurately produce finished product on time, in full at cost
  • Executing to calendar deliverables, including but not limited to development protos, pre-production and size run samples, raw material and finished goods validation, costing, compliance testing, quality evaluation and approval requirements with key stakeholders
  • Drive efficient yield per material item, to support sourcing & costing for cost negotiation, to meet the healthy margin.
  • Contributing to the creation and evolution of construction standards in conjunction with the Quality team
  • Supporting Sourcing & Quality in the training of new factory resources and ensuring that Arc’teryx brand standards are met
  • Identifying gaps and opportunities, working with Product Creation Development, Sourcing, Costing and Quality to drive process improvement with a lean forward attitude to drive evolution within the design to manufacturing process
  • Travelling, as needed, to support the business expectation
  • Upholding Fair Labor Association’s Workplace Code of Conduct and Principles of Fair Labor and Responsible Sourcing throughout the Arc’teryx supply chain;
  • - By working closely with the Amer Sports Global Sourcing Vendor Sustainability team on quarterly business reviews and training/capacity building (at least annually)
    - By adhering to negotiated lead times and balanced annual capacities to expedite responsible purchasing practices as outlined in the Responsible Sourcing Policy

    If you were the Commercialization Specialist now, here are some of the core Pattern Making & Fit Engineering activities you would be doing:

  • Setting up, leading and monitoring the fit review & approval session for the dual source model. Collaborating with Design, Pattern Team and development team to maintain the correct block and drive the fit consistency for dual source model.
  • Supporting fit and pattern block adjustment (if necessary), via collaborating pattern team, product developers establish measurement specifications, pattern file, layering, technical specifications, pattern note and fit comment for dual source model, delivering the fit excellence.
  • Supporting and providing guidance to internal /commercialization teams to solve any fit & construction issues related to fit evaluation, pattern, yield, marker in dual source model.
  • Partnering and collaborating with pattern team and product developer to get the practical solution for commercialization team and factory partners
  • Participating and supporting on-site fit session and vendor coordination meetings when required.

  • Supporting commercialization team and the vendors by training and enabling a better understanding of Arc’teryx fit standards and methods 
  • Are you our next Commercialization Specialist (Hybrid)?

  • You have 3+ years of experience in pattern making and/ or product development (with a focus in technical, innovative apparel will be an advantage)
  • Proficiency in Gerber PDS & Accumark software for pattern making and adjustment
  • You have an Undergraduate Degree OR equivalent industry training, certifications, or related business experience
  • You have experience effectively communicating with, and travelling to domestic and offshore vendors and manufacturers
  • You have a comprehensive understanding of design intent, product aesthetics, construction, production and fit
  • You have a complete understanding of the product lifecycle process - from ideation to consumer
  • You are able to travel globally, as needed, to support the business expectations
  • You have a strong knowledge of raw materials, technical construction
  • You are detailed and accuracy oriented with strong organizational skills
  • You demonstrate initiative, agility and commitment
  • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
  • You are goal driven with a results-oriented attitude
  • You effectively balance autonomy and collaboration
