The APM is responsible to protect and promote the interest of both the business and client in all matters as well as demonstrate the personal characteristics of a beginner-level leader. While learning paths, growth, and promotional opportunity vary, most team members are APMs for two to six years.

  • Update project schedule, including the master schedule and rolling three-week look-ahead; ensure project quality control, including compliance with infection-control requirements, healthcare codes, medical gas standards, and owner-specific facility protocols; establish overall project logistics
  • Assist in managing the closeout process, including coordination through owner/architect and facilities-team acceptance
  • Collaborate with the project superintendent and site operations team throughout the life of the project, anticipating issues before they affect patient care, schedule, or cost
  • Assist in developing and tracking method-of-procedure plans for utility shutdowns, tie-ins, energization, and other high-risk activities, including advance approvals, notifications, contingency planning, and post-work verification
  • Support coordination with the design team, facility representatives, authorities having jurisdiction, and third-party inspectors to help resolve field conditions, RFIs, inspections, and code-compliance issues promptly

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; four-year degree from an accredited university with a concentration in construction, engineering, or business strongly preferred
  • In lieu of a degree, additional work experience is acceptable
  • 2-5 years' experience in commercial construction, including experience with a commercial general contractor; healthcare or occupied-space construction experience a plus
