Who is VetEvolve?

VetEvolve is a network of veterinary practices built to support the people delivering care and the practices they lead. We combine clinical insight with operational strength to give our teams the support, tools, and structure they need to thrive, without losing what makes each practice unique. We are intentionally focused on growth, not as an end in itself, but as a way to strengthen our practices, expand access to care, and create more opportunities for our teams.

Guided by our values: Care First. Better Together. Grow Forward. Own It. We create an environment where veterinary professionals can do their best work, build meaningful careers, and deliver exceptional care. Growth with intention. Care without compromise.

Colonial Animal Hospital is excited to welcome a Full-Time Associate Veterinarian to our established small animal practice in Springfield, Virginia!

For more than five decades, Colonial Animal Hospital has been a trusted part of the Springfield community. We have built long-standing relationships with our clients by providing high-quality, compassionate medicine and treating every patient like part of the family. We are looking for a veterinarian who values strong client relationships, collaborative medicine, and the opportunity to practice in a supportive environment where you can continue developing your skills while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Why Colonial Animal Hospital?

You'll be joining an experienced and supportive team that believes great veterinary medicine starts with collaboration.

Our hospital offers a diverse small animal caseload and a comprehensive range of services, including:

  • Preventive and wellness care
  • General medicine
  • Soft-tissue surgery
  • Dentistry
  • Digital radiology
  • Ultrasound
  • In-house laboratory and diagnostics
  • Laser therapy
  • Health certificates and more

Our team also works with mobile specialists when appropriate, allowing us to provide additional services while maintaining continuity of care for our patients.

Position Summary:

The primary purpose and function of the Associate Veterinarian is to provide the highest quality of veterinary care and exceptional client service. The Associate Veterinarian advocates for pets and their quality of life; builds a long term bonding relationship with clients; contributes to the development and maintenance of the human-pet bond; and educates clients on all aspects of pet health. This role partners with the Practice Manager as a driving force in support of a positive, high-performing culture that aligns with VetEvolve’s guiding principles of Care First, Better Together, Grow Forward, and Own It.

Highlights:

  • Long-established practice with decades of history and a loyal client base in the Springfield community
  • Work alongside two highly experienced Cornell-trained veterinarians
  • Excellent environment for mentorship, collaboration, and continued clinical growth
  • Diverse small animal GP caseload with the ability to develop your individual areas of interest
  • Strong surgical caseload with access to board-certified mobile surgeons for more advanced procedures
  • Comprehensive diagnostics including digital radiology, ultrasound, and an in-house laboratory
  • Dedicated surgical and treatment areas with a well-equipped hospital environment
  • Strong focus on preventive medicine, client education, and long-term patient relationships
  • Supportive team that values collaboration and high-quality medicine
  • Closed Sundays with limited/select Saturday hours
  • Convenient Northern Virginia location with easy access to Alexandria, Arlington, and Washington, D.C.

This practice tends to appeal particularly well to veterinarians who enjoy building client relationships, practicing high-quality medicine, and working in a supportive team environment rather than a high-volume corporate setting.

  • Effectively communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and home care instructions to clients and the veterinary medical team; address and resolve client concerns.
  • Promote the safety of pets, clients, and team members by ensuring safe restraint techniques, adherence to practice guidelines, and maintaining clean, organized, and sterile treatment, exam, and laboratory areas.
  • Build strong, lasting relationships with clients and gain their trust and compliance.
  • Attend department and team meetings, both in person and virtually, to stay informed, collaborate effectively, and support broader practice alignment.
  • Demonstrate integrity, ethics, and embody VetEvolve’s core values of Service, Evolve, and Trust.

  • Comfortable sitting, standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Professional, neat appearance consistent with hospital standards.
